Li Yuanchong's white hair was exceptionally bright under the moonlight. His hair was like a mirror, reflecting sharp rays of red back up into the sky.
"Yuanchong, you…" Yue Mingming wanted to say something, but couldn't get himself to say the words stuck in his throat.
Li Yuanchong turned his head around and glanced at the group. He spoke with an abnormal sense of calmness, "There are only 26 of us left… No, that's wrong. I should add in the two in the city. We have 28 people with us. Let's go. We should've completed the mission on our end. What's left is what's happening on Liu Yue's end."
Liu Yue felt a terrible throbbing pain in his head. The group of 4,000 Celestial Soul Masters he led were fending off the assault of a dense pile of Undead. But no matter how many they killed, there were always more. And to make matters worse, whenever one of his own men died, they would stand back up and join the enemy's ranks.
There was something far more frightening than fighting against the world's strongest person, or the world's largest army. Indeed, a battle that was far more terrifying was one where your own men joined the enemy. "Unless we can exterminate these Undead in one fell swoop, we'll only lose this battle. We can't continue fighting like this!" Liu Yue mumbled to himself.
…
An ear-piercing signal rang out as a brilliant light exploded above Seadragon City. This left Liu Xintang between a rock and a hard place. He couldn't figure out what to do. His son would never use their signal for help if he wasn't at the end of his line. But if he left the beach unguarded…
"Humph, humph!" Elder Qing seemed to understand Liu Xintang's hesitation. He coldly snorted, "Get your brothers from the Demonic Clan who are hiding over by the beach to show themselves. Let's get the main show on the road."
Qin retrieved a small circular conch and lightly blew it. As its sounds danced over the waves, a few faint silhouettes faded in and out by the beach. They jumped and dodged in and out of sight, grabbing ahold of Liu Xintang's attention.
Liu Xintang's determination had started to waver. But when he spotted the flitting silhouettes jumping in and out of the water, he knew he was right. He would guard the beach with all his heart! "Young Master Shen, take 2,000 of my men and sneak down the walls to assist Yue'er. Please!" Although he refused to leave the beach himself, he still worried about his son.
Shen Xuan gladly obeyed these orders. "Uncle Liu, you need not be polite. I'll head over right away."
Liu Xintang looked with worry at the receding backs of Shen Xuan and the others. Before long, clamorous sounds and wails reached him from within the city. "What's happening?" Liu Xintang's heart trembled with fear.
Shen Xuan returned rather quickly. He shook his head and said, "Uncle Liu, we were too late. The walls are lost on their side. Brother Liu Yue is retreating to the Castellan's Mansion, ordering all the citizens to follow suit. The brothers under his command have spread out throughout the city. They're helping with the evacuation of the citizens to the Castellan's Mansion to keep casualties to a bare minimum."
Liu Xintang felt his heart freeze over. The bottom of a thousand-meter valley would be warmer than his heart.
…
The Castellan's Mansion was packed to the brim with people. There were many more civilians outside forcing their way in. They had no choice. After seeing an Undead chew on a Celestial Soul Master, they lost all courage. Once they heard the Castellan's Mansion was safe, they hastily made their way over. Even the roof was now chock-block full of people.
Ling Xiao couldn't stop himself from pursing his lips. I, your father, really do love excitement and lively scenes, but I really don't like such a crowd!
Li Yuanchong was helping Liu Yue fight as they retreated. They only relaxed when a Celestial Soul Master came over to report that all of the citizens had already been evacuated to the Castellan's Mansion.
"Retreat!"
When they heard Liu Yue's roar, the surviving Celestial Soul Masters swiftly retreated into the Castellan's Mansion together.
Ling Xiao furrowed his eyebrows when he saw Li Yuanchong with his white hair. He handed a pill over to him and said, "If you're not afraid of me poisoning you-"
Li Yuanchong didn't let Ling Xiao finish his sentence. He took the pill and threw it into his mouth, swallowing it whole.
"Well, I'll say, what've you been doing here? Can the Castellan's Mansion really guard against the Undead outside? There's close to 10,000 of them," Li Yuanchong asked in a hoarse tone, his eyes bloodshot.
A small smile appeared on Ling Xiao's lips. "What do you think? Do you really believe I'd stay here if that wasn't the case?"
"You're so afraid of death. How could you possibly be somewhere where your life is in danger?" Li Yuanchong's voice was filled with disdain. His evaluation of Ling Xiao hit the nail on its head.
Ling Xiao mischievously chuckled. "You guys fight with your physical strength, so I have to work with my brains. You're all so reckless. But in the end, didn't you retreat back here? If you retreated sooner, less people would've died."
Liu Yue rolled his eyes at Ling Xiao, then asked with anger and hatred brimming in his voice, "If you knew we couldn't hold our ground, why didn't you say something earlier?"
"Number one, I needed you guys to hold out outside a little while longer. Number two, if I asked you guys to retreat, would you have been willing to do so?" Ling Xiao calmly replied.
Liu Yue was momentarily at a loss for words. Retreating without a fight really wasn't his style.
"Alright, the enemy is here." Li Yuanchong glanced at Ling Xiao with a profound look in his eyes. "It's your turn to shine now."
Ling Xiao smiled and dusted himself off before confidently swaggering out. More accurately speaking, he jumped up and flew across the heads in the crowd.
…
"Why are they hiding in the Castellan's Mansion?" A belittling smile hung on Qin's lips. "Do they really think that tattered excuse for a Castellan's Mansion can protect them?"
Elder Qing suddenly fell silent before he slowly said, "I didn't see that broom boy outside just now."
Qin didn't hide the scorn she had for Ling Xiao in the slightest. "He's just a good-for-nothing who only knows how to play dirty. You're so afraid of someone like him? You can kill him without any effort! It'd be like pinching a fly with your streng-" She suddenly shut her mouth. Ling Xiao the broom boy had just appeared in the Image Soul Stone. "He's brave enough to face 10,000 Undead all by himself?" she asked, her heart trembling to its core. She began to doubt her eyes. Were they playing tricks on her? Was this person in view really that good-for-nothing who only knew how to play dirty tricks?
…
The Undead moving outside the Castellan's Mansion seemed to have caught a whiff of human scent. They immediately erupted into violence. They bared their fangs and brandished their claws. Low, beastly roars occasionally sounded out from their mouths. It was frightening.
"You want to have a taste of Father Ling's flesh? Dream on! Watch as your father roasts you all!" Ling Xiao hatefully glared at the pile of corpses. They were everywhere without an end in sight, no matter where he looked. He tightly gripped the handle of his broom and swatted it on the ground. Clank! The metal broom brushed the ground, creating a spark. Two different kinds of fire ignited on the hairs of his broom. They were tri and hexcoloured flames!
"Three and six-part flames!" Elder Qing cried out involuntarily. "Only a yellow and blue ranked Elemental Soul Master can possess wield those respective flames!"
The flames rapidly scuttled forth, illuminating the devious smile playing on Ling Xiao's face. "Your daddy has spent so much time setting things up. If I don't burn you all down to ashes, things that aren't human, demon, nor devil, how can I be worthy of this metal broom?"
The broom in Ling Xiao's hands was red like a heated rod of metal. "Go!" Ling Xiao swung his broom after letting the flames brew for a little.
The fire shot forth from the handle of Ling Xiao's broom. A combination of the three and six-part flames burned the surroundings of the Castellan's Mansion clean in a matter of seconds. Once the flames came in contact with the Undead, they combusted, leaving only ashes behind.
"Aaahhhhhh!"
"Aaaoooooo!"
The burning Undead wailed like ghosts and howled like wolves as they incessantly fluttered in the air. When these sounds reached the ears of the citizens hiding in the Castellan's Mansion, fear got the better of them. They felt as though their hearts were about to leap out of their chests!
…
"That broom has the ability to absorb and store the power of the five elements! How could I have forgotten this?!" Elder Qing could no longer keep his cool. A dense will to murder arose with every word he spoke. "You brat! That was only the prelude! Now this is the real show!" He lightly jumped up above the water.
Floating in mid air, Elder Qing stretched his arms to the side and had his palms facing the sky. It looked as though he was hanging on a cross. The blood-coloured rays of the moon spilled over on his body that was shining a dark blue colour. It seemed as though the moonlight was feeding him energy.
In the next moment, the water below Elder Qing became violent and disturbed. It was as though it shared the emotions of the Undead.
…
"Aaaoooooo!"
"Woooooo!"
The Undead let out thunderous snarls following the surging seawater!
"Has it finally started?" Ling Xiao mockingly glanced at the raging flames in front of him before he rapidly retreated into the Castellan's Mansion.
…
Out on sea, Elder Qing gripped his head. He clasped his palms together and shouted, "Activate, Blood Moon Array!"
All of the Undead in Seadragon City let out their final furious roar before their bodies exploded like firecrackers that were set ablaze. Their dirty blood dyed the city red. Under the illumination of the blood-coloured moonlight from above, the whole city was dyed a earth-shattering crimson.
