"I really was careless. I didn't even inspect the corpses of the dead Celestial Soul Masters this morning!" Ling Xiao thought aloud. "The Demonic Clan most likely smeared some kind of poison that can raise the dead onto the weapons used in tonight's assault. Every Celestial Soul Master they stabbed got infected… Ah! I'm so careless! I really am!" Although Ling Xiao worded his sentence as such, he didn't feel the least bit remorseful. There was nothing to be gained from regret. It couldn't solve the situation. And right now, he was doing his very best for the people of Seadragon City, exerting all means possible to rectify his negligence.
Ling Xiao took out a book on demonic arrays from the Demonic Seven Souls Chain the moment he saw the blood red moon over the horizon. He studied the book's content, attentively flipping through its pages.
It didn't take long for Ling Xiao to find the answer he was looking for. This array was called the Blood Moon Array. It could be formed by employing a method requiring both the Demonic Heavenly and Heroic Soul. The Demonic Soul Master would first take control of a corpse with their Heroic Soul. After which, they would activate their Heavenly Soul to spread the Undead Poison and turn all nearby corpses into mindless Undead.
When there was a large enough number of Undead, the demon controlling them could manipulate them to collectively self-destruct. A powerful explosion would rapidly spread, attracting the moon and tide. The destructive force was large enough to even destroy a lava lake!
"There's surely a flaw in the Celestial Soul Ward." After Ling Xiao put everything together, he lamented for a moment. "At the very least, I've set up these arrays to ward off any low ranked demons from entering the Castellan's Mansion. The Celestial Soul Ward will only come into play after these arrays unleash their might. If I didn't do this, the city would be destroyed long before the Celestial Soul Ward activated."
At this time, Ling Xiao thought of an item and quickly took it out. It was the almost empty Soul Stone Plate. Qian Gui had left it behind in his chain depository, but Ling Xiao hadn't yet thought of putting it to use.
The Demonic Seven Souls Chain naturally contained the method of crafting a Soul Stone Plate. There was only one issue. It was nigh impossible for Ling Xiao to craft such a high ranked demonic device at his current rank. But none of that mattered now. Someone else had done the heavy lifting, and he now had an almost empty Soul Stone Plate. Tonight, he would replenish it!
Sweat was dripping down Ling Xiao's forehead. He gently wiped it off with his sleeve and proceeded to stash the Soul Stone Plate away in the Castellan's Mansion. He made an all out effort to prepare this place for the battle to come.

On top of the city walls facing the sea, Liu Xintang and Shen Xuan didn't relax either. Their hearing was excellent, and they had heard the cries of battle rumbling through the skies from the other side of town. However, they couldn't leave their post. Liu Xintang was confident that the moment they slacked off on this end, a large army of demonic beasts would flood the beach and lay waste to the city.
…
From the safety of the sea, Qin and Elder Qing were spectating the events unfolding in Seadragon City through an Image Soul Stone. "There's no one who can scheme like you, Elder Qing. Qin can only bow her head in shame. She's far inferior."
"Haha, Maiden Qin is flattering me." A hint of complacency surfaced in Elder Qing's laughter. "The plan only succeeded because of Liu Xintang's paranoia. If he knew I have no army at hand, he'd probably vomit blood in anger."
For some reason, Elder Qing seemed to brim with confidence in the success of his plan. It was something Qin simply couldn't comprehend. "How can you be so certain he won't help fend off the Undead? If he really goes over and helps, your entire plan will fail."
A crimson glow glimmered in Elder Qing's eyes. "I understand him too well. In this world, no one understand him better than I do, not even he himself."
Qin glanced at Elder Qin with a deeply profound look in her eyes. She didn't retort, or say another word. In silence, she cast her gaze back on the Image Soul Stone and continued watching the intense battle.
…
The thousands of Undead swarming towards Seadragon City split up into two groups. The larger group headed toward the city gates Liu Yue protected, while the smaller group of approximately 1,000 Undead charged at Li Yuanchong's group.
Li Yuanchong and his men were but a small group. Before them they saw a group of enemies at least ten times their size charging over. They could feel their hair stand on end, cold sweat drenching their bodies. Every single one of them tightly gripped their weapons, trying to ignore their sweaty palms. But how could they when it made holding their weapons steady all the harder?
None of them were in the mood to do anything about it. Their gazes were concentrated on a black and bloody pile of corpses getting ever closer.
Of the newcomers from the Sunken Wind Valley, there were only a few dozen still alive. Or at least, they were still breathing. They walked sluggishly, their bodies soaked in fresh blood. In this sense they resembled the walking corpses in front of them, they only knew how to walk in a muddle headed manner.
Li Yuanchong tightened his grip on his spear and growled, "If you don't want to become like them, use your soul stones and self-destruct when you know you're going to die!"
The hearts of the newcomers trembled in fear. If they didn't self-destruct their soul chains, their souls could be reincarnated. Perhaps in their next life, or the one after, they could recover the memories of their past lives. But if they self-destructed their soul chains… That was real death. There would be no reincarnation. They would truly disappear from this world, forever!
"I'd rather my soul disperses than to turn into one of those things that isn't human, demon, or devil!" Li Yuanchong viciously spat out. He was a boy with ample murderous aura around him on a normal day. But now, now he had become an addict to slaughter. Fresh blood stained his face, making him look like a demonic homicidal maniac.
However, no one looked at Li Yuanchong with disgust. He was now their pillar of moral support! Ling Xiao? He just hid himself from danger most of the time, acting behind the scenes. In the kind of mess they currently found themselves in, they'd much rather rely on Li Yuanchong!
Li Yuanchong didn't let his band of brothers down. When the Undead were almost on top of them, he took the lead and charged forth with only his spear in hand! "Kill them!"
The murderous intent in all of the other newcomers were set ablaze. Li Yuanchong's roar was the spark that lit the fire. "Kill them all!" they hollered as they lost themselves in battle. They swiftly struck the Undead head on.
Pfft! Pcht! Li Yuanchong's bloody white shadow was the first to rush into the pile of walking corpses. A burst of fresh blood madly flew out. In the blink of an eye, he'd impaled 10 Undead on his spear. He sent them all flying with a flick of his wrist.
Yue Mingming followed closely behind Li Yuanchong, courageously charging into the crowd of Undead. The scene of Zheng Hao carrying him out of danger played on repeat in his mind. That roar still echoed beside his ear, "You must make it out alive!"
"Kill them!" Yue Mingming's eyes were bloodshot. The sword in his hand danced. Countless sword shadows slashed across the Undead's necks, chopping their heads off!
"Aaahhhhhh!" The Undead sunk their teeth in a few of the newcomers. In the blink of an eye, they were covered in cuts and bruises. Blood gushed down their bodies as though they'd been skinned alive!
"Dammit!" The newcomers couldn't stand it any longer as they looked at the devastating state their comrades were in. They finally made up their minds. Once they were bitten, they would self-destruct!
A few moments later, explosions sounded out. Clusters of Undead were shredded to pieces. Li Yuanchong didn't need to turn his head around to know that a few of his brothers had departed from this world.
Li Yuanchong never held back when fighting. But although he was ruthless, he wasn't cold-blooded. The deaths of his comrades stung him deeply and a ruthlessness he had buried deep down in his heart was unearthed. "Hiyah!" he madly roared as he took to the air. From high up, he threw his spear down to the ground.
Clank! The powerful sound of Li Yuanchong's spear piercing the ground resounded out. A hum followed as a burst of white light spread out from the tip of the spear. It enveloped their surroundings, forming a hexagram. It was the pattern of an array!
"Woooooo!" It seemed as though the Undead had sensed danger because frightened expressions appeared on their faces. However, that didn't last long. The white light turned brighter until a single ray shot into the sky. It fell down a moment later in the form of an umbrella, falling over the Undead. An explosion followed, blasting apart the Undead. A bloody powder was the only remnants of their existence.
…
In the Main Heavenly River Hall in Heavenly River City. Li Xuanyi sat here alone. He slowly opened his eyes and disdainfully snorted, "Immature brat. You normally only know how to play it cool like your father. Aren't you also just like him to act on impulse when you're provoked? You used the array I use to protect you folks from the younger generation so easily. I really do want to see who's going to save you next time!"
…
On the surface of the sea, Qin was startled, while Elder Qing involuntarily cried out, "This is Heavenly River City's array! A boy like Li Yuanchong can also use it to unleash such might? He exterminated hundreds of Undead in one move. That's only something we blue ranks can do with our strength!"
"That boy is really violent!" A strange expression flashed across Qin's elegantly beautiful face that resembled a painting. There was no sadness, no joy, no anger, nor displeasure.
…
The battlefield fell silent. The newcomers who were lucky enough to survive were looking at Li Yuanchong in shock. They were rendered speechless. If Li Yuanchong had used this move earlier, many of their brothers would've survived. But surprisingly enough, no one blamed him for not doing so. This was because they could see the price he had to pay. His fine black hair was now a snowy white.
