A Demon's Path Chapter 109

A hint of redness burned on Cheng Yu's face. She hatefully spat out, "Why would I fancy that hoodlum?! Senior Brother, don't make wild guesses."

Li Yuanhuan looked at Ling Xiao who the newly admitted disciples had hailed as a god from afar. He earnestly said, "Junior Brother Ling is an exceptionally gifted person. His wanton and unrestrained behaviour is all just a show. If he leads our Northern Jade Sect in the future, we'll definitely witness the golden age our ancestors enjoyed. Perhaps more."

"Him? Sect Master? Didn't you hear what he just said to our Junior Brothers and Sisters? Everything he said was a mess. If he were to really become the Sect Master, the sect would be doomed!" Cheng Yu hatefully exclaimed.

Li Yuanhuan said with a slight smile, "If Junior Sister doesn't like him, why do you care so much about what he says to those disciples?"

Cheng Yu was temporarily at a loss for words. Indeed, if she didn't show consideration for Ling Xiao's image in front of these newly admitted disciples, why did she have to get angry? Why had she unconsciously started to give thought to that boy's image? Her mind was a mess. "I don't know. I'm really dizzy. That bastard must've angered me too much. I'm going back to my room to rest."

Watching Cheng Yu walk away, Li Yuanhuan helplessly let out a long sigh. "Junior Sister, if you truly have feelings for Junior Brother Ling, Senior Brother will help you achieve your aim."

Northern Jade City. A stubble-faced middle-aged man walked into a teahouse. He ordered a few dimsum to go with the tea and started eating them slowly. He was dressed in filthy clothing. Who knew how long it had been since they had been washed. Looking at his filth-stained face, it was obvious there wasn't much of a difference between him and a beggar.

However, this middle-aged man's table manners were unusually refined. The dimsum he ordered was in good taste too. It was a great mismatch with how he looked. This odd situation naturally piqued the interest of those around him. It was just that he emitted a faintly discernible murderous aura, making it so that those nosy fellows didn't dare approach him.

Two disciples from the Northern Jade Sect were enjoying lunch in the teahouse. They frowned when they saw the beggar-like man, and quickly left after setting the bill.

The middle-aged man coldly smiled and quickly finished his dimsum before he left the teahouse too.

The two disciples from the Northern Jade Sect had just walked out of the city when they were surprised to find the beggar from the teahouse waiting for them. He was blocking their way back to the sect, leaving them feeling dumbstruck. "Sire, who are you? Why are you blocking our path?" one of the disciples politely asked.

The beggar looked at them expressionlessly. He opened his right palm and a halberd fell in it from thin air. "There's no reason. I just want to kill you two!"

"Why-" The two disciples couldn't even ask why before their heads were lobbeded off their bodies. Splish! Splash! The two heads fell to the ground on both sides, one left and one right. Blood sprayed up from the two headless corpses like a fountain as they fell to their knees. They managed to stay up for another four seconds before falling limply on the ground.

"There's no reason. It's just because you guys are disciples of the Northern Jade Sect," the middle-aged man snorted. "Unless all of you hide in your sect forever, I'll kill every single one I see!"

"Aiyah. If it isn't Sect Master You Songxi of the Moon River Sect?" someone asked with a small smile.

Seeing as he'd been recognised, the corner of You Songxi's eyes twitched. He slashed his halberd behind him without turning to see who it was. Clank! His halberd smashed into a hard object. They were in a deadlock.

"It's you guys." You Songxi coldly said as he retrieved his long halberd. "You guys played Luo Shang and Chen Tao badly. Yet you still have the face to come here and see me?"

The two You Songxi spoke to were naturally Elder Qing and Flame Demon Pan Xuan from the Seven Devils Cult.

Elder Qing let out a mischievous chuckle. "Sorry. We sustained some minor injuries a while ago and were resting in the Seven Devils Cult for a very long time. We've only just come out to take a breath of fresh air. We never expected we'd run into you just as we arrived at the Northern Jade Sect. Fate really brought us together!"

"Fate my ass!" You Songxi hatefully cussed. "I only want to exterminate the Northern Jade Sect. If you guys want to take a breath of fresh air, take a hike!"

Elder Qing let out a long sigh. "Sect Master You, we also want to deal with the Northern Jade Sect. We were only afraid you'd expose our plan, so we've come to have a chat with you. It isn't in anyone's benefit if the Northern Jade Sect suspects us of doing this."

A fierce glow flashed in You Songxi's eyes. "You want to deal with the Northern Jade Sect too?"

Elder Qing countered with another question. "Why would I lie to you? Alright, I'll tell you the details of our plan later. Let's deal with these two corpses first."

Whoosh! Flame Demon Pan Xuan waved his hand, setting the corpses ablaze. In the blink of an eye, they burned down to ashes.

Li Yuanhuan was still in charge of taking a roll call of all the disciples. Even though he had secretly had a few too many drinks with Ling Xiao and his head was spinning slightly, he still didn't forget nor neglect this task.

After taking a head count twice, Li Yuanhuan sobered up in almost an instant. There were two disciples missing! He frowned. Other than an unruly disciple like Ling Xiao, no one from the Northern Jade Sect had stealthily sneaked out at night before. Besides, it was around midnight now, so it could be assumed they would be staying out all night.

A strong intuition told Li Yuanhuan something must have happened to these two disciples. He dragged a dazed Ling Xiao out of bed. He looked extremely serious as he said, "Junior Brother Ling, Little Gang and Little Yue are missing."

Poof! Ling Xiao yawned and fell head first back on his bed. "They might've gone drinking with female entertainers…"

Li Yuanhuan wouldn't have it. He anxiously said, "How can everyone be as brave as you? Something must've happened to them."

Ling Xiao couldn't sleep through the racket Li Yuanhuan was causing, so he was forced to crawl out of bed. He grudgingly said, "Alright. What do you want to do? Deploy the whole sect to go out and find them?"

Li Yuanhuan shook his head. "I heard there's a talisman that can track someone's location according to their blood and hair. We'll go to the Glorious Star in Northern Jade City and buy two of them right away." Without letting Ling Xiao say otherwise, he pulled him along as they madly rushed toward Northern Jade City.

Glorious Star was closed at night. Even so, Li Yuanhuan still knocked on the door incredibly loudly until someone finally came to open it.

The person in charge was still the young lady Zhao Shanshan who was beaming from ear to ear. Their intrusion had jolted her awake from dreamland. And even though she'd rather go back to sleep, she still had her work ethics as she sold two Tracing Talismans to Ling Xiao and Li Yuanhuan.

Before they left, Ling Xiao whispered something in Zhao Shanshan's ear, causing her face to flush red. After Ling Xiao and Li Yuanhuan left, Zhao Shanshan stamped her feet and cursed, "Damned pervert!"

"It seems you're not wearing any underwear." That was what Ling Xiao said to Zhao Shanshan just now. It looped in her ears all night, causing her to lose sleep. Not that Ling Xiao cared. For if they couldn't find those two boys, Li Yuanhuan wouldn't let him get any sleep either.

After they left Glorious Star, Li Yuanchuan handed the two talismans to Ling Xiao. "They need Essence soulforce to work. It's all up to you."

Ling Xiao wasn't willing to pass on his responsibilities to other people, so he attached the two strands of hair to the two Tracing Talismans. Li Yuanhuan had found these two strands of hairs in the missing disciples' room. They were near the pillows on their beds. Ling Xiao really adulated his Senior Brother's attentiveness to detail.

Ling Xiao tightly held the Tracing Talisman in his hand. Suddenly, he realised he had no clue if this talisman required the power of a Celestial or Demonic Soul. Afraid that Li Yuanhuan would see some kind of flaw in him, he secretly used both to power up the talisman.

In the blink of an eye, the talismans turned into two rays of yellow light and flew out of Northern Jade City. Ling Xiao and Li Yuanhuan closely followed after them. The two talismans flew a few meters outside Northern Jade City before they stopped.

This was an uninhabited zone between Northern Jade City and the foot of the mountain atop where the Northern Jade Sect stood. Ling Xiao and Li Yuanchong exchanged a glance with grave expressions on their faces.

The two talismans landed side by side on the ground. Ling Xiao dropped down and carefully sniffed the ground. He could vaguely smell the scent of blood. Conversely, Li Yuanhuan felt a ball of heat as though a raging inferno had burned this area a moment ago.

"They're dead." Ling Xiao stood up and slowly said, "It seems like someone's looking for trouble with our Northern Jade Sect."

Li Yuanhuan tightly clenched his fists. "No matter who it is, as long as they dare to harm our Northern Jade Sect, I won't let them go!"

Ling Xiao earnestly looked at Li Yuanhuan and said, "Me too."
