Chapter 964: Chapter 665 No Idle Persons Allowed_2 Chapter 964: Chapter 665 No Idle Persons Allowed_2 After the incident in Neverwinter City, they were psychologically scarred by Heim Believers.
Other adventurers likewise disliked Heim Believers. Heim, known as The Eye of Guardians, was mainly responsible for city guard duties most of the time, rarely venturing out. To the adventurers, these followers were essentially the rich and the authorities' lapdogs. Heim Believers had no fondness for these rule-breaking adventurers either. The two groups hardly saw eye to eye.
As for the mages…
“Hmph.”
The mage, who had just been smiling, looked at the Heim Priest and his face immediately turned stern, letting out a cold snort.
They had not forgotten who killed The Magic Goddess.
“Let's set off.”
The atmosphere might have turned cold, but there were still matters to handle, so the group hurried off towards the Lost Ground.
Trailing at the back of the group, Kasim and Roxia quietly moved closer to Emilia.
“Miss Emilia, that must be the Great Judge, right?”
“I think… it should be?”
Indeed, this was also why they joined the adventure. Initially, Emilia and others had planned to stay in Baldur's Gate for a while to see if Duanmu Huai would return. Then, the explosion in the Lost Ground happened, and Baldur's Gate issued a bounty hoping someone would investigate the incident. When Emilia and her companions learned that the incident likely involved a tall figure clad in Black Armor, a Steel Demon… well, then they knew who to look for.
“What's he doing in the Lost Ground, making such a big commotion?”
Kasim looked puzzled. Others might be unaware of the Tribunal's ferocity, but they knew how a ruthless character who hunted down Drow Elves in the Dark Region and even killed Spider Queen Ross could just blow up a piece of land.
Nobody else could do it, but Duanmu Huai… well, he might actually pull it off.
“If it really is the Great Judge, I think it could be bad.”
Kasim cast a surreptitious glance at the Heim Priest walking ahead, murmuring his criticism. They were no longer greenhorns, having traveled extensively after leaving Neverwinter City. They knew all too well that Heim Believers were truly stubborn and detestable. Emilia, being a Sacred Knight from Tyler, still got some respect from Heim Believers, but for ordinary adventurers, dealing with Heim Believers was… unbearable.
Obstinate, rigid, snobbish, like a loyal watchdog that barks at everything and everyone except for its master.
“If this foolish Heim Priest says something, I think we need to consider how to explain to Heim Temple why their priest's head ended up plastered against a wall.”
As witnesses of how Duanmu Huai had dealt with Dessel, both Emilia and Roxia nodded in agreement.
“Oh… ”
Emilia sighed wearily. Tyler and Heim were not from the same camp–Tyler was Lawful Good, Heim was Lawful Neutral–but, at the very least, they could still be considered colleagues. Emilia felt utterly hopeless thinking about dealing with this mess herself.
As for stopping Duanmu Huai? Well, Emilia felt she could only do her best…
Of course, what was most despairing was…
“Why do I have to come along with you guys too!”
Following behind the three, Luganis was nearly crying. She finally understood why Duanmu Huai had said, “Your unlucky days will come,” Indeed, as a hero who had saved Neverwinter City, Luganis had been living well, sleeping well, enjoying herself immensely, and even drawing a large salary as a Mage advisor to the Lord, who had promised she could build her own Mage Tower!
Luganis now felt like she was living a life even gods might envy.
But then–just as she was indulging in her comfortable life, with a bang, the Lost Ground exploded.
As “someone who had once saved Neverwinter City,” shouldn't you be leading the charge to check out the situation?
Now Luganis finally understood; the salary she was drawing had not come easily!
That money was indeed burning a hole in her pocket!
Luganis regretted her decision, but it was too late. Luckily, when she packed her bags and arrived in Silver Moon City, she saw her companions and nearly cried upon seeing Emilia and others.
Had she known, she would have done like Kasim and Roxia, demanding a hefty sum of money to flee far and wide–wouldn't that have been better?
Unfortunately, there's no medicine for regret in this world.
Thus, an elite team of adventurers from various cities set out from Silver Moon City, advancing along the Adventurers' Road towards the Lost Ground. They didn't encounter many enemies along the way; most people would definitely avoid a formidable team like them. However, ultimately, their advance was blocked.
By a massive iron gate.
“What is this thing???”
The exploring team stared at the iron gate before them, baffled, while the Heim Priest clasped the Sacred Badge tightly, his complexion solemn and ashen.
“This is desecration!!”
“Uh………”
Looking at the gate before them, Emilia and the others were momentarily speechless. The iron gate, entire black with gold trimmings, had an artistic appeal. However, in the center of the gate, there was a large pure white skull emblem, behind which stood a War Hammer– a symbol all too familiar to Emilia and others, having seen similar decorations in Duanmu Huai's Mage Mansion. That was the emblem of the Tribunal.
