Chapter 958: Chapter 662 Interlude (End of the month, asking for a monthly ticket, meow) Chapter 958: Chapter 662 Interlude (End of the month, asking for a monthly ticket, meow) “Bang, bang, bang, bang!!!”
The deafening noise made the adventurers' scalps tingle, and they almost missed the Elf Ranger's warning.
“Into the forest! Into the forest!!!”
Hearing the Elf Ranger speak, the remaining adventurers hurried into the forest — just as the terrible noise stopped.
“Damn, what the hell is that thing?”
Another warrior muttered angrily, tossing aside his shield, which had been crafted from fine gold and was now riddled with several holes, resembling a rotting piece of wood, completely useless.
“What he's holding, it's even more powerful than a cannon!”
“Now is not the time to talk about this.”
The Sacred Knight shook his head.
“We must get out of here, no matter what, we have to tell the Queen what happened here; this wilderness has been enveloped by evil! We are powerless on our own!”
“But how are we going to escape that guy's pursuit?”
The Hobbit whispered, they had all seen the monster's speed, which far exceeded their imaginations. If it were not for the Elf Ranger's familiarity with the forest, they probably wouldn't have been able to escape its pursuit.
But this was only temporary, as they could hear the heavy footsteps gradually getting closer — mixed with a nauseating stench and a buzzing noise.
“We only have to split into two groups; one to distract it, while the other makes their escape.”
The Sacred Knight finally made a decision, then looked towards the Elf Ranger and the Hobbit.
“You go back and report; we will handle delaying that monster's movements!”
“But……”
“We are not familiar with the forest like the Elves, nor as skilled at hiding as the Hobbits. If we all go together, it will eventually catch up! But now, we can lure it in another direction while you make your escape! Go now! There's no time!”
No one spoke further; the Hobbit and the Elf Ranger exchanged glances and nodded.
Then the Sacred Knight and the remaining warrior turned and ran deeper into the forest, while the Elf Ranger grabbed the Hobbit.
“Follow me! Don't talk!”
Watching the Elf and the Hobbit disappear into the trees, the Sacred Knight breathed a sigh of relief, grasping the Longsword tightly and kissing the Sacred Badge on it.
“May Rosanda protect my courage, until the last moment.”
“Hah.”
Watching the Sacred Knight's action, the warrior nearby chuckled lightly.
“If Rosanda really showed a miracle, he should just come out and strike this monster dead with a bolt of lightning!”
“You don't understand.”
The Sacred Knight shook his head and put away the Sacred Badge.
“This is faith.”
“I only know that once a person dies, everything ends.”
The warrior gripped his Battle Axe tightly, lowering his voice.
“Too bad, it looks like we are going to die here.”
The Sacred Knight said nothing; he gripped the Longsword and hid behind a rock, while the warrior hid on the other side. They could hear footsteps getting closer and closer. Then — the Sacred Knight leapt up, raising the Holy Sword high.
“Rosanda, grant me your shining light and vanquish the enemy!”
Blinding Holy Light burst from the sword along with the Sacred Knight's roar, even causing the Green Armored Warrior to halt his steps. Simultaneously, the warrior ran out from behind, roaring and swinging his Battle Axe at the Green Armored Warrior's unguarded, mutated and ugly right claw.
“Psh——–!”
The blade cut into the Green Armored Warrior's arm, but did not elicit the expected response; the arm appeared incredibly robust, and the gash made by the warrior's forceful strike was quickly covered by rising chunks of flesh. Before the warrior could react, he saw the Green Armored Warrior lift his left hand and swing it forcefully.
A whooshing sickle turned into a whirlwind, blowing everything around it away, including the Sacred Knight, who felt a powerful force hit him face-on, and the next moment he was blown away, breaking several tree trunks before collapsing on the ground, unable to get up. He could feel his bones had fractured, and his armor had shattered into pieces embedding into his flesh.
The last thing the Sacred Knight saw was the Green Giant striding toward him.
Hope……they can leave safely.
This was the last thing the Sacred Knight thought about before losing consciousness.
