Chapter 931: Chapter 651: Night of the Black Blade Chapter 931: Chapter 651: Night of the Black Blade Accompanied by Rose's emergence, the Drow Elves burst into excited cheers, as it was the first time they witnessed the Deity they worshipped descending onto the main plane. Rose strode out of the fortress, appearing as unstoppable as a Giant, unfazed by the grand army before her.
“You've finally come out, Traitor!!”
Seeing Rose, Philray too was exhilarated. She stood up, glaring furiously at Rose, and bellowed loudly.
“You stole the Spider Queen's title and position, and your plot to rule over all Drow Elves has been exposed. I–as the daughter and envoy of the Spider Queen–will personally annihilate you here!”
Hearing Philray's roar, Rose was utterly bewildered.
What the hell is this idiot talking about?
What does she mean I stole my own title and position? Who the hell is the Spider Queen if not me? And who are you? I sure as hell don't remember having a daughter like you!
Where did this lunatic come from?!
“You will pay for your mad words!”
While roaring, Rose stretched out her hand toward Philray, and in that instant, the light of life in Philray's eyes vanished, her body wobbled, and she collapsed onto the seat like a puppet whose strings had been cut, no longer responding.
Instant Kill.
Ah, well… it's never sufficient, is it?
Watching Philray's body, Duanmu Huai shrugged helplessly. Even with Philray's twisted will and deranged mind, she still couldn't break the insurmountable boundary between humans and gods. To a deity, mortals are that fragile; with a single gesture, a single thought, a mortal's soul can be destroyed and seized.
But it didn't matter, as this was merely a sideshow. Rose's presence here indicated that Duanmu Huai had achieved his aim.
He silently took over the complete control of the entire army and then issued an order.
“Attack.”
The frenzied Drow, the Blood Moon, and the twisted Old God Servants surged forward, assaulting the fortress before them.
Just as expected.
Watching the ongoing assault, Rose's gaze turned icy. She had long known that a manipulated Drow Elf Priest wouldn't be able to resist her power alone. There must be something manipulating behind the scenes, which is why she used Instant Kill to directly seize Philray's soul, seeking to find clues from her memories.
Now that Philray's soul was in Rose's hands, she screamed angrily, cursing and wailing, despising Rose. She accused her of acting as a Traitor, but Rose was indifferent. Her power had taken full control of Philray's soul, tearing through her memories, searching for traces.
Meanwhile, the war had already begun.
The twisted and frenzied Underground Army hit the fortress walls like stormy waves. Outnumbered Kobolds, Bear Goblins, and other Slave Races barely managed to stall the onslaught. They raised their spears in despair, their screams drowned by the surging horde, and then in the next moment, mutated Drow Elves, Underground Monsters, and nameless Old God Servants collided against the fortress walls, launching a fierce assault.
In response to the attack, the Drow Elves on this side naturally didn't stop either; the Wax Melted Monsters, resembling fleshy strips, twisted their bodies, extending tendrils to bite and gnaw at the mutated beings trying to climb the walls. Giant Demon Hunting Spiders weaved through the crowd, their limbs like sharp spears, piercing any enemy daring to approach.
Priests chanted loudly, condensing infinite Divine Power, bombarding the Blood Moon before them.
If it were a full Blood Moon, just one would be sufficient to destroy the fortress. Unfortunately, this is the Dark Region and Duanmu Huai couldn't possibly create a moon-sized Blood Moon. So… the efforts of these priests were not in vain. As they put their life and soul into it, they joyfully watched as the grotesquely twisted creature's body burst open, shattering continuously under the bombardment of Divine Arts.
Simultaneously, Rose was still searching through Philray's psyche. What infuriated her was the chaos and disorder of the Drow Elf Priest's memories. She seemed to lack any logic or rational thought, like a madwoman. She firmly believed she was Rose's daughter, the true spokesperson of the real Rose, and not this “impostor”. At first, Rose thought that Philray must have gotten such an idea from someone else, as typically, a Spider Queen Priest wouldn't harbor such blasphemous thoughts.
However, tracing back to the end, Rose was speechless to discover that this was indeed a conclusion Philray had come up with on her own. She believed she had received Rose's Favor, but the other Matrons in the city envied her God's Favor. According to reason, a priest receiving God's Favor wouldn't be attacked, so when the Congress's Matrons questioned Philray, she immediately reached this conclusion.
The Matrons' believed in a false Rose; the one she believed in was the genuine article.
It must be said, this logic almost pulled Rose into it herself, because strictly speaking, Philray's reasoning wasn't wrong. Any family and priest favored by Rose would be revered, as this indicated the Spider Queen's favor. So normally, it's improbable that someone would dare provoke Rose by targeting a priest and family under her favor.
