Chapter 930: Chapter 650 Tide's Roar Chapter 930: Chapter 650 Tide's Roar The sound transmission stone gradually shattered; Kelben Black Wand stared at the powder in his hand before sweeping it aside. He narrowed his eyes to look out the window. This legendary mage had a robust stature, with eyes that normally shone bright, but now they flickered with uneasy brilliance.
The Tribunal.
Kelben had heard this name before but not for the first time; he had previously learned of the Tribunal from Tyler's god-favored knight. Amelia had also once inquired if Kelben knew of this organization, but even with his history with the Harpist Alliance, Kelben knew nothing of the Tribunal's existence.
This was indeed rare since Kelben had been a member of the Harpist Alliance, and even though he had left to establish his own organization, he prided himself on having a capable intelligence network.
Yet, even so, he had never heard of such an organization.
Just from Amelia's description alone, Kelben could confirm that the Tribunal was a human-supremacist organization–such organizations were exceedingly rare on the Prime Material Plane. As mentioned before, humans did not have their own guardian deity, and most deities that humans could worship also interacted with other races. Hence, it was unlikely that the Tribunal was a divine organization.
Only some mage organizations might have such rules, but based on Amelia's description, that Judge apparently was not a mage–well, hadn't he mentioned he was a mage?
What a pity Kelben had not had the chance to meet him before.
Kelben sighed slightly; frankly, Faelun Continent was full of all sorts of bizarre organizations. The Tribunal was not the strangest among them, but it was certainly the most audacious he had seen–merely infiltrating the Dark Region and even starting a war among the Drow Elves, aiming to eradicate them completely, was shocking to anyone who heard of it.
After all, anyone could speak grandly. Zealous faith could even inspire some clergy to boldly venture into the Ninth Level Hell to “save” those devils. However, actually doing what one claimed was a whole different matter.
What exactly had the Tribunal done?
How had they accomplished it?
Kelben had countless questions, but now all he could do was suppress his inner anxiety and wait for his nephew, along with Amelia and her party, to return safely.
If the Tribunal truly managed to annihilate the Drow Elves, Kelben was certain that it would become the biggest news on the continent.
Without exaggeration.
Clearly, this was not good news for the Drow Elves.
Six cities had already fallen.
The Drow Elves had never felt such tension as now, with the angry roars of the Spider Queen reverberating in their minds, while the loss of communication with city after city threw them into a panic. Since the Drow had moved underground, they had never encountered such a dangerous situation.
There were twelve Drow cities built in the underground, each connected only to those nearby. But now, half had fallen, so much so that the Drow's faith in the Spider Queen began to waver–after all, their worship of the Spider Queen was because she could protect their survival in the Dark Region. Now, it seemed that the Spider Queen had lost her divine power.
Perhaps–those rumors were true?
That their revered Spider Queen was not the true one?
Once this doubt took root, it became hard to suppress. Drow society was already full of intrigue and scheming, and the inability of the Empress to display her mighty power in the face of rebellion led some lesser-ranked families to gradually harbor doubts. Of course, these were minor families without the power to influence an entire city.
But…rumors spread wider than anything else.
And so, when Bernast's First Matron saw the doors to her temple thrown open and a woman clad entirely in black, with eyes ablaze with fire, striding in purposefully, she was nearly too shocked to move and rolled off her throne, trembling on the ground before the Drow Elf.
“I will absolutely not forgive such foolish treachery! That is why I am here!”
The Saintess of Rose clenched her teeth in rage. The power of the deities in this world came from the power of faith, and it was the same for both racial and occupational gods. Not only had Duanmu Huai been slaughtering the Drow Elves, but he had also spread lies that shook their faith in the Spider Queen. This was tantamount to a deadly assault on both their bodies and their spirits, and of course Rose could no longer tolerate it.
Perhaps the gods of Heaven Mountain might help each other, but the Lords of Demons in the Bottomless Abyss held no such camaraderie. If they sensed that Rose was no longer strong, it was hard to imagine they wouldn't try to turn Rose into a roasted spider seasoned with salt and devoured with sauce.
Therefore, Rose had no choice but to descend in her Saint's form, risking it all.
Otherwise, she was doomed!
“Bernast, Kel Narri, Sopone… gather all the devotees from the remaining six Drow Elf cities here. We will eradicate those ignorant fools right here in Bernast and make them understand the consequences of opposing the Spider Queen!”
The Saintess of Rose stared at the trembling First Matron before her, her eyes increasingly luminous.
“Moreover, I will bestow upon you a holy ritual. You will understand, the strength of the Spider Queen is irresistible!”
“Yes———-!!”
In that moment, the only response the First Matron could make was this.
The edict of the Spider Queen was unyielding.
Soon, the armies of the Drow Elf families from the remaining six cities set out. Of course, not everything went smoothly. Every Drow Elf knew how perilous the war was, and if possible, they would have liked to make some preliminary arrangements to ensure the continuity of their families. However, the divine edict of the Spider Queen was inviolable. She demanded that every Drow Elf family bring their priests, soldiers, and slaves to Bernast–the Drow Elf city that would become the next battlefield.
When Philray led her forces to Bernast, what she encountered was a fortress armed to the teeth.
Tens of thousands of slaves, armed with weapons, stood outside the city walls, where the battlements were manned by Drow Elf Soldiers wielding crossbows–even the Wax Melted Monsters, the maidservants of the Spider Queen, appeared from both sides, readying themselves for a deathmatch against the traitors.
This scene alone was enough to halt many invaders in their tracks, their courage waning.
However, this did not include Philray's army.
The now completely crazed Drow Elves didn't care about the massive army opposite them, their bodies and minds long having succumbed to the will of the Old Gods, becoming indescribable monsters and servants of old. The colossal Blood Moon, similar to a giant jellyfish, floated behind Philray, its tentacles–formed from transformed Corpse Variants–swaying incessantly, eager for the next delectable meal.
What on earth was that thing?
Even the Saintess of Rose lost her composure for a moment at the sight of the distant army. Even in the Bottomless Abyss, she had never witnessed such bizarre and twisted fleshly creations; not even the most evil Demigod Lich would create such a twisted, indescribable, and nauseating existence!
What exactly was their enemy?
The Saintess of Rose suddenly realized she might have been too rash, because even now, she had no idea who the other side was or why they attacked the Drow. She was certain that the crazed Drow Priest had been manipulated by something, but what was it?
It's not as if the Drow Elves hadn't tried to investigate; many families sent spies, or some smaller families even feigned defection from the Spider Queen, fleeing the city to seek refuge with Philray, attempting to understand the source of her power and what exactly was behind her.
But none of them had returned.
The same was true for those Drow Elves who fled during the battles. Ogis and Gavi floated outside the defensive line like ghosts, eliminating every fish that slipped through the net–just as they had done at the gates of the Underworld Dwarves' city.
Now, standing atop the city wall and looking out at the bizarre and terrifying army that even Rose couldn't imagine, this question was incredibly pressing.
Elves are actually not good at storming fortresses, and the Drow are no different. They prefer to use dark barriers to obscure the enemy's sight and launch surprise attacks from behind. But now there was no time; the battle was imminent, the arrow nocked and ready to fly. And this was to be a battle that would decide the fate of the Drow Elves.
The Saintess of Rose clenched her fists and shook her head, then turned around to look at the First Mother.
“Begin the ritual now.”
“Huh?”
The First Mother blinked in surprise at the Saintess of Rose's command.
“But the battle hasn't started yet…”
“Do it now, immediately.”
The Saintess of Rose coldly cut the First Mother off. She knew what the First Mother wanted to say. According to the original plan, they were supposed to hold the ritual after the battle had begun, as it required a large number of Drow Elf Souls. The souls of the Drow Elves who died in the battle would be absorbed and complete the ritual.
However, the Saintess of Rose had not told the First Mother that actually… in the Realm of Rose, there had been a lack of souls from the primary material plane's Drow Elves for quite some time.
This was obviously a strange matter; by all accounts, the souls of all of Rose's followers should go to the world of Rose after death, not to mention there had been no shortage of Drow Elves dying in those previous brutal battles, but Rose had almost not seen many souls entering her domain.
Could it be that the opponent had even taken away the souls of her followers?
Now Rose really couldn't tolerate it anymore.
Everything the other party had done was obviously… aimed at her.
Thus, there was only one thing she could do.
The First Mother raised her hands and began to chant loudly, and the other Priests also lifted their hands in unison. They surrounded the Drow Elves preparing for battle in the Inner City, singing praises to the great power of the Spider Queen. At first, the Drow Elves saw nothing wrong with this, as praying for the Spider Queen's blessing before battle was almost standard procedure.
But they soon realized something was off; this chanting was lasting much too long. A thick, evil, and powerful force was coalescing and gathering. They began to breathe rapidly, their heart rates quickening; a shadow of death was silently enveloping every one of them.
Then, they fell.
Thousands of elite Guard Soldiers from various families collapsed at that moment, struck down by the divine arts of their own worshipped Spider Goddess. Then, a sinister red array quietly emerged, greedily absorbing the souls of the sacrifices, sending out wave after wave of shock.
“Oh?”
Standing behind Philray, Duanmu Huai raised an eyebrow and looked towards the distant fortress.
It seems Rose finally couldn't bear it anymore.
This fluctuation was not unfamiliar to Duanmu Huai, who could feel the barrier between subspace and the material world weakening. A vast amount of Soul energy was pouring into it, tearing the wall that separated the two worlds. A huge ring of fire appeared out of nowhere. Then, a Spider Elf that was dozens of meters tall, with the upper body of a Drow Elf and the lower body of a spider, emerged, wielding a Snakehead Whip, and flames of anger shot from her eyes.
“Who dares to provoke me…! Come out now!”
The Guardian God of the Drow Elves, the Spider Queen Rose, glared angrily at the army in front of her and roared loudly.
