“Greetings, Sacred Knight of Tyler, I am Danilo Sain, a Harper.”

“Huh?”

Amelia was startled by the man's words.

“You are Danilo Sain? Nephew of Master Kelben?”

“Indeed.”

Danilo nodded to Amelia.

“Since you know who I am, I assume you didn't just happen to come here…”

“I will not answer your question, especially under the circumstances of your harboring Drow Elves.”

Amelia gripped her longsword tighter; she was not the type of Sacred Knight to stick blindly to rules. And even if he really was Danilo Sain, why would he protect Drow Elves? Could he have been controlled by them, manipulated, brainwashed, or perhaps he had fallen so low as to become a lackey for the Drow Elves?

If it was the latter, then it was Amelia's duty as a Sacred Knight of Tyler to root out and eradicate the evil.

After all… when Master Kelben had given her the mission, he had not specified that it had to be done with a living person.

Bringing back a head should suffice.

“They are indeed Drow Elves, but they are not the evil kind.”

The reason Danilo later intervened was that he saw the Holy Light radiating from Amelia–a formidable power that only God-favored Knights possessed. Besides, being a follower of Tyler, Danilo was not a grievous sinner and it was clear that Amelia's presence was not for his assassination, which prompted his appearance to stop the conflict.

“But you still haven't explained why you are with a group of Drow Elves.”

Despite what Danilo had said, Amelia remained on guard.

“It's a long story… but let me explain.”

Danilo gave a wry smile and began to explain to Amelia.

Initially, their entry into the Dark Region was purely for adventure, but they were soon attacked by a group of Drow Elves, and Danilo's Adventure Squad was almost annihilated, with only a few survivors captured and taken to the Drow Elf City.

At that point, Danilo thought he was doomed, but en route, they were ambushed by another group of Drow Elves who rescued Danilo and two other adventurers. It was then that Danilo discovered that these Drow Elves were followers of the Girl of Darkness, Elythne–a Deity of the Drow Elves that protected the benevolent Drow who resisted the Spider Queen.

Thereafter, Danilo joined forces with them. He initially wanted to return to the surface immediately, but after learning about the civil strife among the Drow Elves, he decided to stay and investigate the matter with them. As a Harper, Danilo had the innate feeling that something was off about the whole affair.

That's why they had come to this ruined Drow Elf City, to see if they could find any useful clues, and that's when they encountered Amelia and the others…

“I understand now.”

Amelia lowered her longsword. She had already used “Detect Lie” on Danilo Sain, and since there was no sign of deception, it meant that everything Danilo had said was the truth.

“Then we need not keep secrets either. In fact, we were sent by Master Kelben to find you in the Dark Region. He also entrusted me with a Compass…”

“I see.”

Seeing the Compass in Amelia's hands, Danilo looked exasperated.
