Chapter 914: Chapter 643 Attack_2 Chapter 914: Chapter 643 Attack_2 “Now is the time!”
Accompanying Lady Sinafi's roar, the sound of thunderous bombardment erupted.
When Dark Elf Clans warred, it always ended with the annihilation of one side. As war commenced, every attacker cast a veil of Dark Arts over their target's territory so thick, it obscured everything within. This way, other clans could only gaze upon a shrouded area, oblivious to the events unfolding inside.
Seeing nothing meant nothing had happened.
Of course, this presupposed the targeted clan was utterly destroyed.
If the assaulted clan managed to resist the attack, they could thereafter level accusations at the aggressors in the Congress, and the failed attackers would face purging.
This was the “justice” of the Drow Elves.
“Get on with what you must! I will lead the prayers, to show them we have not lost the Spider Queen's favor! However, you must thwart their assault, for if you fail… you know the consequences!”
Philray turned and ran.
Her fate now hung on a single thread.
When Philray returned to the balcony, the outside had descended into a chaotic battlefield.
Hundreds of fully armed Drow Elf Soldiers had vaulted over the fence, entering the Third Family's courtyard–it was the hallmark of Drow warfare.
“They have over a thousand men!”
The Chief Martial Artist commanding the battle from the balcony shouted upon seeing Philray.
“We are too few in number, there's no way we can withstand their attack!”
“There must be a way, there has to be!”
Philray responded without hesitation to the Chief Martial Artist's roar, glaring at him fiercely, wondering if he would dare to be so insolent were Lady Sinafi present. However, her focus quickly shifted to the dire situation ahead: the Third Family's Soldiers and slaves barely resisted the Second Clan's prepared forces–or rather, the Union Army.
Philray was certain that at least a third of the attacking Drow Elves didn't belong to the Second Clan; they were merely adorned with their insignia.
What to do? What to do? Flee or fight?
As Philray gazed at the battlefield, she did not realize her heart was becoming increasingly twisted.
Good.
Sensing Philray's inner turmoil, Duanmu Huai narrowed his eyes; the Drow Priestess before him was indecisive. Like before, it was time for him to give her a nudge.
Philray was currently deliberating whether to flee or surrender. After all, she was only a mid-tier Priestess–no, there was another option!
In that moment, Philray felt as if struck by a thunderclap; a choice she had never before considered surfaced in her mind.
Was this not… the perfect opportunity?
For herself?
Did she wish to continue living a cautious life as before?
No… No more!
With that thought, Philray looked up and stretched out her hand toward the battlefield ahead.
“Exterminate them!”
Following that, Philray issued the command with ferocity.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the Second Clan executing the attack was uncharacteristically anxious.
“The Third Family has not lost the favor of the Spider Queen! It's a trap!”
The Second Clan priests bellowed, but it was too late; nobody had anticipated that, even without a High Priest, the Third Family was still under the Spider Queen's care.
“We have no way back; we must move forward!”
Despite some inner turmoil, another member of the Second Clan, who was leading the charge, steeled himself to speak out. From the moment the assault began, retreat was not an option. Should they back down, the Third Family would bring accusations against the Second Clan before the Congress, and then they would be decimated by the unified rage for justice from all clans in the city.
Even so, they weren't overly concerned, for the Third Family only had fewer than two hundred soldiers, while the Second Clan had nearly a thousand. Even if the Third Family hadn't completely lost the Spider Queen's favor, it did not mean they could withstand–
“Boom!!!”
Yet just then, a sudden loud explosion startled everyone. As they turned to look, they saw a shadow leap from the Third Family's balcony, plummeting directly into the fray.
It was a towering figure clad in pitch-black, terrifying Armor.
“Is that the rumored construct?”
Beholding the imposing figure, the Second Clan priests frowned slightly. Everyone in the city knew what the Third Family had harvested and the price paid for it.
But…
“A mere construct, it seems they're at their wit's end.”
The Second Clan Priest underestimated the figure before them.
“Destroy it!”
The Drow Elves were quick to react. Soon, dozens of Soldiers changed course, charging towards the massive construct, while the Drow Magicians in the back raised their hands, loudly chanting to bring forth the power of destruction. The colossal monster seemed to disregard the Drow Magicians' attacks completely. With a swing of its War Hammer, it sent Drow Soldiers flying from its immediate vicinity. The poison-coated thin swords of the Drow Elves were ineffective against this fearsome being, but they were only there to buy time in the first place.
