Chapter 668: Chapter 495 Museum Mystery_1 Chapter 668: Chapter 495 Museum Mystery_1 Honestly, it was quite a coincidence. After all, once Chief Anthony had finished talking to Duanmu Huai, he decided that the requisites had been met and reported to his superiors. By sheer chance, they happened to have a potential U-class case needing investigation.
At such times, the police either call in investigators or take the case themselves.
And just then, Chief Anthony had an idea himself.
He wanted to see…how exactly Duanmu Huai conducted his investigations?
Any other investigator, Chief Anthony might not have had such a thought, but Duanmu Huai's appearance was so intimidating that Anthony couldn't help but get curious.
It's like someone accidentally falling into the lion and tiger enclosure at the zoo. Any ordinary person would certainly be mauled to death, but what if Duanmu Huai fell in? People would want to see who would win, the lions and tigers or Duanmu Huai. Now Chief Anthony got a bit of a spectator's perspective.
If you win once, people might call it luck, but two consecutive victories? You can't put that down to luck.
And going by the records, chances are the first victory wasn't luck either.
When Chief Anthony invited him, he didn't really expect Duanmu Huai to agree outright. After all, the man had only just crawled out of Innsmouth, and despite his imposing stature, who knows? Maybe there's a delicate maiden's heart within that burly body. As a cop, Anthony had seen all sorts of strange characters during his investigations, including muscular men who acted effeminately.
What surprised Anthony, though, was that when faced with his invitation, Duanmu Huai agreed right off the bat and very enthusiastically.
Someone was bringing him the case on a silver platter – it'd be foolish to refuse!
Truth be told, Duanmu Huai's straightforwardness took Anthony aback. Did this man truly have no psychological scars?
Of course, Chief Anthony was not one to dither. Now that they had agreed, let's hit the road together!
Easy to say, but when he got to the parking lot and saw his old, beat-up second-hand car, he balked.
This car could fit an average person, but him?
Chief Anthony looked from his car to Duanmu Huai, and surprisingly, the latter didn't make him feel uneasy.
“Don't worry, Chief Anthony. My ride will be here soon.”
“Oh?”
Hearing this, Chief Anthony's interest was piqued. He had seen Duanmu Huai's file and knew that he was somewhat infamous in Arkham as a wealthy young man. But Anthony was more curious about what kind of car a man of Duanmu Huai's size would drive!
A limousine Lincoln? That's unlikely, Duanmu Huai would have to lie down to fit inside – wouldn't that just make it a hearse?
Or maybe it's a convertible like a BMW?
That doesn't seem right either. With his broad shoulders, he'd need to occupy several seats even on an airplane – what kind of convertible could fit him?
“Ah, here it is.”
Just as Chief Anthony was lost in imaginings, Duanmu Huai's voice broke through, pulling him out of his daydream. He hurriedly looked over to the direction of the parking lot entrance.
And then — he saw a huge truck hauling a trailer slowly rolling in.
Seeing this, Chief Anthony's eyes bulged to the size of baseballs.
He was not shocked by the heavy-duty truck. After all, trucks like this were a common sight on the road, it was the truck's exterior that was…shocking!
That's right, shocking!
At the front of the truck, on the grille, there was a very scary symbol of a war hammer and a skull. If that was all, it might have been okay. There are lots of custom cars with far wilder themes. What made Chief Anthony's vision go black was the truck's paint job.
The entire truck was white, but the part with the skull had been painted over to look like a pink bunny. The headlights looked like the big eyes of a bunny, and it even sported buck teeth. It looked so cute that it could very well have been mistaken for a kindergarten school bus!
And that would have been fine, if not for the fact that the sides of the truck were painted with a bunch of cartoon girls!
At this point, the look in Chief Anthony's eyes when he looked at Duanmu Huai was just a series of question marks.
You, a burly man of two point five meters tall, like this stuff?
Of course, there's nothing wrong with liking it, but given your stature, your status, your wealth, don't you have any sense of propriety? Do you really need to be so flamboyant?
Don't you see the watchman at the parking lot gate was dumbfounded?
To be honest, even posting a few scantily clad girls on the side of your truck would have been better than this!
Duanmu Huai didn't seem perturbed by Anthony's gaze.
What's the point of driving a car, if not to attract attention?
Regardless of whether it's praise or criticism, as long as it gets people's heads turning, all publicity is good publicity!
And he refuses to believe that with such an eye-catching modification, he wouldn't get a 100% head-turn rate on the road.
Maserati's got nothing on me, let me tell you!
Even Cadillac has to call me Big Brother!
Surely the whole point of driving a car is to show off, impress, and attract attention. So the more people who look, doesn't that just prove how great he is?
As for what people think after seeing it… They must be impressed by how different and classy his truck looks, marking him out as anything but a commoner.
