Chapter 567: Chapter 418: Seeking Peace_1 Chapter 567: Chapter 418: Seeking Peace_1 As the Star Union started to push back in full force, the Batarei fleet entirely collapsed.
It's like the fleet composed of three thousand Batarei warships was a giant whale, while the Tribunal fleet led by Duanmu Huai was more like a sharp blade that suddenly appeared, cutting the whale in two.
With their command center lost, the Batarei fleet plunged into chaos, and the unparalleled firepower of the Tribunal fleet caused unimaginable shock amongst these alien creatures. Amidst this chaos, the Batarei fleet became a disoriented mess–some wanted to continue the attack, some were trying to regroup their fleet, others were just trying to escape.
In fact, many of the Batarei battleships didn't die under the guns of the Tribunal but rather in collisions with their own ships during the evasive maneuvers. If one could intercept the Batarei communications, they would have heard the previously silent universe filled with raging curses, howls, loud roars and orders, and screams of despair.
By the time the Star Alliance Fleet joined the battlefield, only a small portion of the Batarei battleships had begun to retreat. The remaining ships were either destroyed by collisions with their own ships or completely blown up by the Star Alliance or Tribunal fleets.
“I never thought it would be this easy … …”
Watching the scene before him, General Baroque couldn't help but sigh. He hadn't expected the Batarei fleet to be so weak after collapsing completely, almost reduced to timidly running away. Of their fleet, aside from a few battleships that had been hit, none had been destroyed, proving just how many problems they had.
But those battleships were… …
Looking at the nearby Tribunal fleet, General Baroque was perplexed. During the assault, he had received a command from General Kislyov, telling them that “those Cathedral battleships are our allies.” This had initially left General Baroque baffled, without a clue about what Kislyov was talking about.
But on closer inspection…
Yes, those were definitely Cathedrals, and they were numerous.
What an architectural style…???
General Baroque was sure he had never heard of such a fleet within the Star Union before, and these ships were much larger than those of the Star Union fleet…
“Beep—-”
At this moment, a communication came in, and General Kislyov's face appeared on the screen again.
“Ah, General Kislyov.”
Seeing Kislyov, Baroque grinned; the battle had been too easy. For any commander, this was a good thing.
“This was a perfect knockout. I think we can start celebrating with champagne now.”
“Hahaha, we'll save that for when we return to the fortress. But for now, I want you to regroup and continue the pursuit.”
“Pursuit?”
Upon hearing this, General Baroque furrowed his brows.
“General Kislyov, isn't this a bit… too reckless?”
As a military man, Baroque of course understood the principle of not pursuing a desperate enemy. The Batarei might have sent their main fleet, but it wasn't their entire fleet. At least a third of the Batarei fleet was still in their own star territory. In General Baroque's opinion, this victory was already perfect. If they continued pursuing and something went wrong, it would ruin things.
“Don't worry about that, the Tribunal fleet will move with us. As for why we're doing this… you'll soon find out.”
“Alright.”
Although he was unsure why Kislyov was issuing such an order, General Baroque could only nod in agreement.
Soon, centered around the Tribunal fleet, with the First and Third fleets on either side, and the Seventh Fleet trailing behind, they started to relentlessly pursue the fleeing Batarei fleet.
This made the escaping Batarei livid. They had expected their main fleet to be defeated but now, it seemed like these humans were intent on total annihilation?
Some indignant Batarei captains ordered a turn around to retaliate. But as soon as they turned around, they were met with a barrage of fire from the trailing fleet and exploded instantly. This made the other ships too frightened to voice their opposition, and they frantically dashed ahead.
“Everybody, hold on! As long as we can escape back to the defense satellites, we'll be alright!”
While desperately accelerating in escape, the leading captain tried to motivate his subordinates. As a member of the rear guard fleet, he hadn't faced direct combat, which had ended up making him the highest-ranked commander in this fleeing fleet. He had no choice but to lead them all while dodging the humans' pursuit.
Damn it! Who would've thought this would happen!
Five thousand warships, and now there were fewer than three hundred left. The remaining were all fast, small destroyers and escort ships. The large battleships and transport ships were either destroyed or captured, leaving only these small warships able to escape!
But… maybe this was a blessing in disguise!
At this thought, the Batarei commander licked his lips and stared at the map before him. The advantage of small battleships was that they could enter the atmosphere. The Batarei military border fortress planet was just ahead, if they could land on that planet, the humans couldn't catch them!
Luckily, small battleships were faster, while the Star Alliance fleet was a bit slower. When they finally caught up, the majority of the Batarei battleships had already vanished onto the military satellite not far ahead.
