But while people relish the peace and joy, deep underground, a bloody and brutal war unfolds.
The ultimate battle between humans and ghouls.
For the ghouls, they have no place left to retreat. Ward 24 is the last sanctuary for the ghouls; losing it means their complete extermination–a goal of the Countermeasure Bureau.
That is to eliminate the ghouls at all costs.
If it were on the surface, the ghouls might be able to use the vast space to maneuver against humans. But in the narrow underground tunnels, they no longer can. Thus, the method of battle is straightforward–when paths cross, the bravest prevail.
Only the last one standing will be the victor!
Gunfire and screams echo in the narrow tunnels, a ragged woman hides in a cave at the back of the tunnel, tightly holding her daughter. Listening to the roars and screams from outside, she clenches her teeth, her face flushing with anger, while the girl in her arms turns pale, trembling and clinging to her mother.
“Mom, dad he…”
“Ah———-!!!”
However, before the girl could finish, a scream suddenly resounds in the tunnel. Hearing this, the girl becomes panicked.
“Dad——No——!”
But as soon as the girl starts to speak, the woman covers her mouth, looking solemnly at the dim tunnel outside. After a moment of silence, she lowers her head looking into her child's eyes.
“We need to get out of here, child.”
“Mom, but dad…”
“Mom will save dad.”
While speaking, the woman stands up with a grave expression, looks at her child, reaches out, and wipes her daughter's face.
“Hurry, do as mom says. Run further inside the tunnel and do not let anyone see you. After mom rescues dad, we'll meet up, okay?”

Hearing her mother's words, the girl reaches out, wipes the tears from her eyes, then nods. She then reaches out, hugging her mother tightly.
“Mom, you must come back…”

Hearing her daughter's whisper, the mother smiles gently, reaching out to touch the girl's head.

The girl nods, then reluctantly lets go of her hands, takes one more look at her mother, then turns and quickly disappears into the dark depths of the tunnel.
The woman just stands there, silently watching her daughter fade into the darkness, waiting until she is completely out of sight. The woman then turns back to face forward. Suddenly her body begins to twist and deform, with blood-red pupils shining in her black eyes. A long tail protrudes from behind her and, like an ivy climbing the wall, the woman, transformed into a ghoul, leaps up and rapidly moves forward!
Through the dark tunnel, the sound of gunfire is now sporadic. The woman can see ahead in the tunnel where countermeasure agents and soldiers in white uniforms are advancing with flashlights, the ground in front of them stained with blood and littered with torn bodies.
One of the most striking sights is the corpse of a massive ghoul lying ahead in the tunnel, its body like a mountain, almost blocking half of the tunnel entrance, where soldiers are trying hard to move the corpse to continue forward.
“Roar———-!!”
Seeing the corpse, the woman's eyes flare red, she screams and charges forward, her tail shooting out like a spear, piercing through several soldiers dissecting the corpse.
“There's more here!”
“Hurry, fire!”
Caught off-guard by the sudden attack, the soldiers quickly lift their weapons and open fire toward the woman. However, the woman dodges their attacks with rapid speed, though clearly, the soldiers are not completely unprepared.
“Throw a grenade!”
Following a command, several soldiers quickly pull out grenades and throw them near the woman. These are not ordinary grenades but specially made white phosphorus bombs. Ordinary grenades and fire have no effect on ghouls; only this cruel weapon can inflict sufficient damage.
“Humph!”
Seeing the grenades thrown at her, the woman sneers inwardly, and with a fierce swing of her tail, she sends the grenades flying back toward the soldiers. The soldiers don't have time to evade before the returned grenades hit them. With a loud explosion, they are instantly engulfed in flames, and the soldiers fall to the ground in despair, screaming.
The woman pays them no heed, her figure flashes again as she attacks the investigator at the rear of the group.
However, what the woman did not expect was, as she passes the agonizing soldiers, those engulfed in flames from the white phosphorus bomb suddenly lunge at her, tightly grabbing onto her!
