Chapter 1071: Chapter 738 Intense Battle_2 Chapter 1071: Chapter 738 Intense Battle_2 “`
“That's different, Senior, Heroic Spirits need to conceal their true names because their deeds are so famous in history and so are their weaknesses. Knowing their true names is tantamount to knowing their weaknesses…”
“So what? I don't know any weaknesses of King Arthur. Are you suggesting we go find a Long Spear and stab him to death?”
Duanmu Huai retorted with a sneer.
“Stop fussing about it. It's just some nobody from a tiny island. Just kill him, and it's all done. Why bother thinking about all this unnecessary stuff!”
Just King Arthur, any notable leader randomly picked from the Three Kingdoms would be more formidable than him. It's just empty boasting. When you get down to it, it's just a country poor in land and sparse in population. Thousands of years pass and they can barely find a few noteworthy people to brag about, just hyping up whoever they have. Like how those Western idiots either rave about Napoleon or Caesar. It's always the same few people over and over. What does that tell you?
It shows their history is impoverished, that's what. Only a few folks have emerged over thousands of years worthy of such acclaim. Pathetic, really.
Not to mention King Arthur is just a legend, not even a real historical figure. Who knows what sort of demon or god is in those stories?
As they spoke, the two had already passed through the passage and arrived in a spacious cave. In the center of the cave, something massive, akin to a volcanic crater, appeared before Duanmu Huai and Mash, shimmering with a purple magic glow.
“What the hell is this? A glowing hot spring?”
“Oh…?”
Just then, suddenly a voice sounded, and they saw a small-statured woman in pitch-black armor, wielding a Longsword, looking down at them from above, scrutinizing Duanmu Huai and Mash.
“Quite an interesting Master and Heroic Spirit combination.”
However, upon seeing the girl before him, Duanmu Huai was completely speechless.
“Hey, Mash.”
“What is it, MASTER?”
Mash raised her shield and anxiously watched the woman above, responding.
“Is King Arthur in your legends a woman?”
“How could that be? The legendary King Arthur is indeed a man…”
“But this looks like a woman, no? Don't tell me she's also like Hua Mulan, who served in the army for over a decade without anyone noticing she's a woman? Can't be that exaggerated, right?”
Duanmu Huai took a careful look at the woman before him from top to bottom.
Yeah, right, definitely a woman.
“Forget it, it doesn't matter.”
Though Duanmu Huai was a bit surprised to find King Arthur was a woman, it was only a momentary feeling. The next second, he raised his War Hammer, aiming at SABER.
“I'm an egalitarian. If a man can be hit, so can a woman. Prepare to die!”
“We'll see if you have the skills to back that up!”
The battle commenced the following moment.
In the dim cavern, Duanmu Huai was fighting with SABER.
Duanmu Huai's combat style was, as usual, wild. With his Power Armor Guardian, he didn't care about the pitch-black Longsword in his opponent's hands. He swung the Thunder Warhammer, smashing it down time and again at the petite girl in front of him, as if playing Whac-Mole or hammering nails, without the slightest hint of mercy. The windstorm and shock waves he created were so fierce that even the earth trembled and cracked beneath them, an unstoppable force reminiscent of a raging mountain torrent.
“`
SABER firmly grasped the longsword, weaving through the violent whirlwind. In just a brief moment of contact, the roles of attack and defense had already reversed. Duanmu Huai disregarded SABER's weapon entirely, and his unrelentingly frenzied assault completely overwhelmed SABER's momentum, smashing her to the point where she couldn't even lift her head.
“So powerful…”
Meanwhile, Mash, who was standing to the side, could only stand there dumbfounded, watching the battle unfold before her eyes, unable to look away. She should have joined the fight, working with Duanmu Huai to take down the enemy before them. But Mash simply couldn't join in; the duel between them left no room for her to intervene. Even if she did, it would only get in the way–Mash felt a sense of discontent for the first time. She was, after all, the current Servant, who should have been shielding her Master from harm and blocking attacks as his guardian.
But now, she had become a hindrance, failing to fulfill the role of the Servant, and could only stand aside…
“Haahh–!”
SABER swung her longsword, parrying Duanmu Huai's strike, then quickly closed in with an explosion of magic power from her sword, unleashing a roaring tidal wave at Duanmu Huai.
“It's useless, just die already!”
To Duanmu Huai, SABER's forceful surge of magic was no different from a breeze on his face. He didn't even bother to dodge, simply shattering the burst of magic power from SABER with a hammer swing, then counterattacked with a backhand blow. At that moment, SABER frantically raised her longsword to defend herself, but even so, she flew into the sky like a golf ball being struck.
“Scampering mice.”
As he looked at SABER before him, Duanmu Huai's expression darkened slightly, then he gave his eyes a slight turn.
Right, use that move.
SABER turned mid-air, then descended towards the ground. But to her surprise, just as she touched down, the earth beneath her feet suddenly split open, and sharp spears made of dirt and stone burst out, aiming straight for SABER's chest!
Majestic Spear!
“Woo—-!”
This sudden attack caught SABER off guard. She swiftly counter-attacked with her sword against the solid long spear, then used the force to dodge backward. However, at that moment, a shadow emerged from above, enveloping SABER as Duanmu Huai raised the War Hammer and struck down powerfully. This time, SABER had no option but to raise her long spear to shield herself from the incoming attack!
“Boom!!”
The Thunder Warhammer smashed directly into SABER's chest, hurling her down to the ground. Dirt and stone flew into the air, then SABER rolled out from the debris. She hardly had time to adjust her posture before she leaped up once more, narrowly avoiding another of Duanmu Huai's deadly blows.
Unfortunately, it was not enough, for in the next moment, a violent fireball explosion completely engulfed SABER, forcing her to cry out as she once again plummeted to the ground.
Seeing this, Mash was shocked.
“Is that… magic??”
Although it wasn't surprising for Duanmu Huai as a Master to use magic, was this really happening?
Looking at the battlefield before her, Mash felt an overwhelming sense of unreality. Duanmu Huai was now using both magic and the War Hammer in conjunction, giving SABER no chance to evade. Truthfully, Mash had never imagined that Duanmu Huai could wield such powerful magic–SABER, known for her resistance to magic, wasn't usually susceptible to such spells!
But there he was, devastating SABER with both magic and melee combat…
“Boom!!”
Just then, the fight seemed to be reaching its conclusion.
Duanmu Huai gave SABER no chance to create distance. As soon as SABER backed away, he would immediately cast magic to restrict her movements and then press with close combat. Against Duanmu Huai's ferocious attacks, SABER finally couldn't hold on any longer. Duanmu Huai's hammer strike sent her longsword flying, and in the next moment, with a furious roar, he swung his War Hammer down forcefully!
“Bang!!!”
The earth trembled violently, and the black-clad swordsman became yet another soul vanquished under Duanmu Huai's hammer.
