Chapter 1038: Chapter 714: Grey Knight Breeding Plan Chapter 1038: Chapter 714: Grey Knight Breeding Plan [Timer: -35.12.36]
Duanmu Huai had to admit, the Limit Warriors were indeed efficient.
He didn't have to look for the blueprints for the Grey Knight Armor; they were available in the Tribunal's library. It's just that Duanmu Huai had replaced the original insignia with that of the Tribunal–well, to be precise, with the insignia of the God of Destruction. This way, they would fight for their faith as disciples of the God of Destruction, just like the envoys of any other deity.
Hmm? What? You say this method seems very much like that of an Evil God?
This is all a misunderstanding! You see, just like the Night Guard, they are simply Night Guard, not… cough cough, you get it.
After all, Duanmu Huai didn't need them to sing his praises, they just had to go kill something or burn something in the name of the Tribunal, and those pitiful souls they destroyed would automatically be absorbed into the Tribunal's domain within the world of oblivion, becoming part of the Tribunal's strength.
Yep, no problem, the Grey Knights were originally meant for this.
Kiriman was quick, and the five thousand Limit Warriors, formerly of the Think Tank, rapidly assembled. Duanmu Huai couldn't help but be moved when he saw so many from the Think Tank.
“To be honest, I never thought there would be so many from the Think Tank among the Limit Warriors.”
Duanmu Huai looked at Kiriman and expressed his sentiment.
“If they weren't wearing blue Battle Armor, I would have thought I was facing Magnus' Thousand Son Army,” he said.
“Just in appearance,” Kiriman remained quite composed.
“The Limit Warrior Legion itself is vast; therefore, strictly speaking, five thousand from the Think Tank isn't much.”
“That's true. When being a rascal, one talks about per capita… I'm getting more and more fond of you guys,” Duanmu Huai said as he silently gave a thumbs up.
Concerning the large number of Psychics in the Five Hundred Worlds, Duanmu Huai was not surprised. The Five Hundred Worlds were the most prosperous and most human-like worlds in the entire Empire, naturally home to the largest populations. And with the rise in population numbers, the probability of Psychics emerging also increased.
It's just like paying for gacha – if you spend enough money, you're bound to pull plenty of rare cards. Psychics are the same; the larger the population, the higher the chance of Psychics appearing and thus, the larger their numbers. There's nothing strange about that.
At the moment, those five thousand from the Think Tank are situated in one of Kaus's auditoriums, a venue that could hold ten thousand people, and this is where Duanmu Huai was to lecture them. He was not very worried about this, as it was somewhat akin to teaching newbie players how to play a dungeon – clarify the monsters' characteristics and weaknesses, what to do and what not to do in order to beat the boss; once you make those clear, they would figure out the rest themselves.
Kiriman was also present, eager to hear what Duanmu Huai had to say. In fact, he was a bit worried Duanmu might say something inappropriate; after all, his disrespect for the Emperor had been quite overt, and Kiriman was genuinely concerned there might be trouble.
However, the first thing Duanmu Huai said upon taking the stage almost gave Kiriman a heart attack.
“I think you all know by now, so I'll just say it again here, listen carefully, the Truth of the Empire is a lie.”
Duanmu Huai's frank statement immediately set the room ablaze; the Astartes were shockingly wide-eyed, staring at Duanmu Huai as if they couldn't believe their ears. Kiriman was also taken aback, at a loss for how to handle the situation, but Duanmu Huai didn't care.
“Alright, don't look so shocked. You're all Psychics; don't tell me you haven't sensed the malice and the Curse from the Subspace above Kaus. Perhaps you've doubted it before, so I might as well make it clear for you here and now; yes, the Truth of the Empire is a lie. There indeed exist beings beyond human understanding in this world, and they almost instigated an unimaginable disaster on Kaus just a moment ago. And before long, you will witness their descent once more with your very own eyes.”
Upon hearing this, Kiriman, sitting in the front row, clenched the armrests, but he didn't stand up. He more or less understood Duanmu Huai's intentions. Indeed, Rogal's Main Fleet would soon arrive. When that happened, they would be confronted with more existences they could not dodge. In fact, during the previous roundup of the Whisperer vanguard, his subordinates had reported several times that those Whisperers had twisted before them into beings they couldn't comprehend, wielding terrifying powers that caught the unsuspecting Limit Warriors off guard and caused them significant losses.
It was for this reason that Kiriman had sought the assistance of the Tribunal. He admitted that the Council of Nikaea had been a mistake, but when it came to criticizing the Imperial Truth–well, as a Genetic Prototype, he certainly couldn't commit such a treasonous act.
But that did not mean Duanmu Huai didn't dare.
“Did the Emperor deceive you? Of course! Believe me, when you meet the Rebel Army, they'll say the same thing. The Emperor deceived them with lies… okay, I don't deny that. Honestly, I don't care whether their foolish choice to rebel was because they were deceived by the Emperor, but the main issue isn't the rebellion but their alliance with the vile Chaos Hybrids!”
Duanmu Huai tapped the table.
“Listen carefully, this is the real problem. For you, betrayal of the Empire might seem like a serious issue. But it's not; the evil Chaos from the Subspace is the biggest problem. Some may start thinking, is using the powers of the Subspace to destroy the Empire a bad idea, then would using these evil powers to protect the Empire be a good idea? Congratulations, at that moment you'd already have fallen for Chaos' deceit!”
