Chapter 1035: Chapter 711: Raid Chapter 1035: Chapter 711: Raid [Time: -52.30.18]
A mistake.
Watching the Tribunal Fleet heading towards the Kaus Array, Ares clenched his teeth. He saw the Eisenstein following behind the Tribunal Fleet and anticipated that they would surely inform Lord Kiriman of Horus's betrayal. If Dorn were here, Ares was confident that he would not be persuaded. Dorn's head was as hard as the marble beneath the Terra Imperial Palace; he would never believe such absurd claims.
But what about Kiriman?
Ares's expression turned gloomy; the appearance of the Tribunal Fleet was an unimaginable variable, especially before the plan was initiated. It changed everything. Now, Ares had only one choice–to immediately change his plan and activate the orbital array of Kaus to attack the Tribunal Fleet directly. This might cause some chaos, after all, the Kaus Orbital Space Station was their trump card. With “In the Name of Kyo” entered into the Kaus network and sufficient strength, it could corrupt everything.
“My lord.”
Just then, his subordinate brought Ares more bad news.
“Our ground forces on Kaus have been surrounded by Limit Warriors, who claim the drill is canceled and demand the Whisperer Corps to leave Kaus immediately.”
“………”
Hearing this news, Ares's expression became as still as a pond, and his worst fear had come to pass. But, fortunately, as it seemed for now… they were one step too late.
“Lord Ares, a communication request from the Genetic Prototypes.”
“Put them through.”
Following Ares's command, the holographic image of Kiriman soon appeared in front of Ares, his demeanor calm and composed as he gazed at Ares steadily.
“Lord Kiriman, I cannot comprehend your actions,”
Ares began, looking at Kiriman.
“I'd like you to tell me, what have we Whisperers done to deserve this treatment? We have traveled thousands of miles to mend our relations between our factions, as per the War Marshal's intent. And now, you have expelled us from Kaus, even demanding our troops to withdraw? What have we done to deserve such treatment?”
“Because you have betrayed the Emperor, and consorted with the evil entities of Subspace, isn't that reason enough, Ares?”
For a brief moment, Ares wanted to object; he attempted to clear Kiriman's doubts, but when he saw Kiriman's resolute gaze, Ares's thoughts suddenly changed.
“It seems, you have known all along.”
“Yes, Ares, I have known about your plans for a long time–Clock Tower, evil codes; I don't know what madness has gripped Rogal nor why Horus decided to betray the Emperor. But since you have betrayed the Emperor, you're left with only one fate.”
“Of course, you wouldn't understand, Kiriman.”
At that moment, Ares finally discarded his previous facade, revealing his sinister true nature.
“You have no idea what you are fighting against. The Milky Way is changing; it will be turned upside down, inside out. The Fake Emperor will be toppled from his throne; he will fall, and no one will be able to revive him.”
“You…!”
Hearing Ares's delirious claims, Kiriman's expression darkened, but Ares became even more agitated.
“Hear me, Kiriman, you think you are clever, wise, well-informed. But it has already begun; the Milky Way is transforming, you will die, the Fake Emperor will die, and so will others. Because you are all too foolish, blind to the truth; the Empire is finished, it is collapsing, soon to be engulfed in the flames, the Fake Emperor is finished, his evil dream is over, Horus is rising!”
“Horus?”
“Yes, the Wolf God Horus is rising! You have no idea of his nobility! He surpasses us all, those who comply will prosper, those who resist will perish! He will sweep away all obstructions! He will govern everything! He will achieve what the Fake Emperor could never do!”
“So… Horus has really fallen?”
“Horus has risen against the cruel and tyrannical Fake Emperor, Kiriman, come to terms with this, and you will die in peace. The Wolf God Horus will overthrow the decaying Empire, punish the oppressive tyrant. Horus is not alone; Prototypes Rogal, Peturalbo, Fulgrim, Magnus, Mortarion, Kolz, Alpharius… all will gather under the banner of the Wolf God; your loyalty is worthless, Kiriman, our loyalty stems from a blood oath!”
“………”
Hearing Ares speak, Kiriman's expression had turned as dark as ice, though he had already heard about these from the Tribunal, hearing them coming from Ares–the chief commander of the Whisperers–greatly enhanced their persuasiveness and authenticity.
In that moment, Ares was increasingly unhinged, his eyes bloodshot, staring at Kiriman with a triumphant gaze.
“Moreover, you are now alone; your brothers have all perished. Riemann, Kolz, Woken… no one will come to your aid, they are all dead, slaughtered like cattle! Dead!”
“Nonsense!”
At this moment, Kiriman could no longer contain his rage and bellowed.
“These are all lies!”
“No, it is not a lie, Kiriman, you know it. You have studied each Genetic Prototype; you know their strength and their weaknesses, theoretically possible, Kiriman, theoretically possible. You know it is possible; it is a possible outcome!”
“……”
Kiriman took a step back, though he was mentally prepared and could accept his brothers' betrayal, the demise of his other brothers still left him utterly shocked, while Ares looked on coldly, reveling in his bewilderment and shock.
“I came here to annihilate you and your Limit Warriors because you are the only force within the Emperor's faction that could potentially stop Horus. You are too dangerous to be left alive, and I am here to ensure that you do not survive.”
“You have no chance now.”
Hearing this, Kiriman snapped back to his senses.
“Your soldiers are surrounded, your little tricks have had no effect, and your fleet is within the range of the orbital defense system. With just one command from me, everything you have will be destroyed.”
“I don't think so. You don't understand what you're fighting against, Kiriman. You don't understand.”
“Hehe.”
However, at that moment, suddenly, a light laugh sounded, and then Duanmu Huai appeared before Erebus, clad in Battle Armor.
“You know what? Seeing you now reminds me of a country bumpkin who just arrived in the big city and got thoroughly deceived by thugs and hoodlums. Just as ridiculous, ignorant, foolish, and naive.”
“You…!”
Faced with Duanmu Huai, Erebus instinctively wanted to retort, but then he suddenly noticed two dubious points.
First, he hadn't initiated another holographic communication image.
Second, this guy was way too close to him.
The next moment, Duanmu Huai's Iron Fist whistled past, smashing directly into Erebus's face. The cold steel made contact with Erebus's cheek, crushing his skin, grinding his muscles, and breaking his cheekbone, followed by a mighty force that seemed like the Iron Hammer directly smashed Erebus to the ground.
Erebus sprawled on the ground, opening his mouth to scream, but his entire jawbone had been shattered, the bones in his face fragmented into pieces mixed with his torn flesh, producing only a muffled scream.
“So, the power you garnered by kneeling to those Subspace Bastards amounts to only this much.”
Duanmu Huai flexed his body, and then with a backhanded swing, he hurled another hammer, striking a Whisperer trying to retaliate behind him. The flaming War Hammer smashed the Whisperer through, and instantly his body turned to a dust much like volcanic ash, dispersing abruptly.
“Sorry, I haven't got anything more to say to you.”
Duanmu Huai raised his hands, the War Hammer appearing in his grip once again, and then he slammed it down towards Erebus.
At that moment, the other Whisperers also reacted. They raised their weapons, roaring as they charged at Duanmu Huai, but it was too late.
The War Hammer fell and smashed onto Erebus's skull, bursting his head open like a watermelon, turning to ash within the exploding flames, but it didn't end there. The dark flames penetrated downward and then exploded–instantly, the entire command bridge exploded, the bright flash and shock wave tearing open Erebus's ship's bridge like a toy model smashed by a naughty child.
“This is not the end———-!!”
Erebus's wails echoed in the communication line, sounding like a ghost's final curse.
“Kiriman! You cannot defy the Deities! My originator will lead his vast army and completely annihilate you and your world! They will serve as the sacrifice for the glorious arrival of the Deity… All your efforts are but the throes of death, and ultimately your soul will dwell in eternal agony…….”
Erebus's screams stopped there, as the roaring explosion and flames erased his last trace of soul, restoring calm to the communication line, as if the malicious echo had been but an illusion.
Kiriman stood coldly on the bridge, glaring fiercely at the terminal, his aura of anger and icy chill deterring anyone from coming close. But fortunately, at this moment, Marius approached him.
“Commander, a report from the ground, the Whisperers are attacking them. They are requesting orders.”
“Fire, annihilate them completely.”
Kiriman didn't turn back, and his tone was flat, as if discussing the weather of the day, but those present could feel the roaring fire behind his calm.
“The Whisperer Fleet has disengaged from its berths and is heading towards the Kaus Orbital Array. They have cut off communication, ignoring our warnings, commander…”
“Don't ask me anymore.”
Kiriman waved his hand.
“The Whisperers have betrayed the Empire, betrayed the Emperor. From now on, label the Whisperers as the Rebel Army; they are our enemy. Annihilate them completely……..”
After saying these words, Kiriman turned and left.
“I need to go back to my quarters to think about some issues; I'll leave the rest to you.”
After issuing the orders, Kiriman left the bridge, brushing past Duanmu Huai. He nodded at Duanmu Huai and then walked to the other side of the corridor.
“So, is Kiriman going back to cry?”
Duanmu Huai, holding the War Hammer, turned and glanced at the back of Kiriman and then spoke out–naturally, nobody answered his question.
One hour later, the battle ended, the Whisperer's ground forces were annihilated, and the Whisperers' fleet in space was also destroyed by the orbital array.
But everyone knew that this was not the end, but the beginning. The master of the Seventeenth Legion, Rogal, was leading his army towards the Otmara Five Hundred World. Accompanied by his brothers and a vicious fleet, he was set to utterly destroy this jewel of the Empire, casting it into oblivion.
It would be 50.16.34 Terra time before their arrival.
