Chapter 1019: Chapter 701: Frenzied Battle_2 Chapter 1019: Chapter 701: Frenzied Battle_2 “This is impossible!!”
Horus roared, his fist smashing down on the table as he glared menacingly at the Abaddon before him.
“How could Angellon possibly be dead? Why would he die?! This must be a mistake!”
“This is a fact, Horus.”
Standing beside, another Genetic Prototype who also raised a banner of rebellion against The Emperor, Fulgrim, was not as furious as Horus, but he too lowered his head, a touch of sorrow visible on his beautiful face.
“The World Eaters witnessed with their own eyes their Genetic Prototype being slain on the battlefield, no conspiracies, no tricks, just a fair and square fight, then killed… Honestly, if there weren't battlefield records, I wouldn't believe it myself.”
Fulgrim looked at the screen before him with astonished eyes, which recorded the scene of Duanmu Huai fighting Angellon, the brutality and terror from both sides even shocked Fulgrim. Angellon and his progeny, the World Eater Legion, were notorious for their ferocious and frightful style. Although not everyone among the Genetic Prototypes appreciated Angellon's style of combat, they had to admit that Angellon did have a unique flair in this aspect.
Yet, Angellon, known for his ferocity, was defeated by an even more ferocious being…
“That's no ordinary Star Warrior.”
Fulgrim stared at Duanmu Huai, the black paint, skulls, and Aquila, the sigil of War Hammer clearly visible.
“I think, among our legions, there is no such paint scheme.”
“Among the eighteen legions, it is so,” Mortarion spoke blandly, and Fulgrim caught his implication. They all knew that The Emperor had found twenty Genetic Prototypes and their legions back, but two were eradicated, the reason known only to a few Genetic Prototypes who were with The Emperor from the start.
Could this suddenly appearing fleet and this man be one of the two missing Genetic Prototype legions?
“It might also be the twenty-first Genetic Prototype.”
Horus snorted coldly; he had many doubts and guesses just as Fulgrim and Mortarion suspected; the other party might be one of the two legions that were exterminated initially. Perhaps the reason they were exterminated was to vanish into the darkness, secretly watching over the other Genetic Prototype brethren. It's possible, too, that the other party is a progeny The Emperor has recently retrieved because without The Emperor telling the truth, no one knows whether he really had only twenty progenies or two hundred.
But none of that mattered now.
The death of Angellon was a massive blow to Horus's plans; he had never anticipated his Genetic Prototype brother dying so abruptly on the battlefield, and they didn't even know the identity of the opponent. The World Eaters lost their Genetic Prototype and were now in a state like headless flies.
If they didn't achieve a victory now, his rebellion might indeed end without disease.
Thinking of this, Horus made a decision.
“Summon all the fleets to assemble, block the jump points. We must completely find and annihilate this fleet!”
As Horus was furious and sought to regain face, Duanmu Huai sat relaxed in his chair, a look of contentment on his face.
“Phew… refreshing.”
The flying skull repaired Duanmu Huai's armor, but he appeared very relaxed, yet seeing Duanmu Huai like this, An next to him couldn't understand at all.
“Refreshing? Mr. Knight, are you okay?”
“I'm absolutely fine, confronting the opponent head on like that and then utterly thrashing them, this feeling is just too exhilarating!”
“Uh… I can't understand.”
“I didn't expect a girl to understand this. It's the romance of men.”
Hearing Duanmu Huai's response, An Ze pursed her lips, to be honest, she didn't find anything exhilarating about two men punching each other, and it looked very painful to her…
“Master.”
Just then, Ogis opened the door and walked in.
“They're here.”
“Let them in.”
“Yes.”
Upon hearing Duanmu Huai's command, Ogis nodded and then walked into the room, followed by three Star Warriors coming in.
Leading them was a white-haired Star Warrior with an eagle emblem on his right shoulder, wearing purple paint on his mecha, looking quite aged. He was Sol Tarvitz, the Company Captain of the first company from the Emperor's Sons Legion.
It was also because of Sol Tarvitz's warning that the Star Warriors on the ground weren't annihilated in the first place. Otherwise, it wouldn't turn to Angellon wreaking havoc on the ground.
Behind Tarvitz were two other differently painted Star Warriors. One with golden short hair, gray eyes, and a pale face. He was Garviel Loken, the Company Captain of the tenth company from the Luna Wolves–or rather, the Sons of Horus Legion.
Beside him was a Star Warrior with a metal prosthetic right leg, dressed in dark green paint, from the Death Guard, the Company Captain of the seventh company, Nathaniel Garro.
Apart from the three Star Warriors, there were two mortals behind them, one an elderly looking man, and the other a bald woman. Both wore long robes, watching with shock and awe the grand hall.
Among these three Star Warriors, Tarvitz and Garo were veterans. They had both waged wars across the Star Ocean with The Emperor even before the Genetic Prototypes returned. They shared a quite good relationship with each other. In comparison, Loken was a newcomer, but it was his keenness that ultimately saved these members of the Loyalty Faction. As the company captain of the tenth company of Sons of Horus, Garviel Loken had once stood close to the war marshal, but because of this, Loken noticed the changes and downfall of the war marshal and particularly requested Tarvitz to keep an eye on the situation before the Istvan III system campaign.
