That was how he realised that none of the Frost Fang Wolves were focusing on him, the prey that was lying right before their eyes.

Instead, all of the Frost Fang Wolves were currently facing towards the depths of the cave as they bared their teeth in threat.

Was there an even stronger wild beast in the cave?

Lu Tianzi was facing the depths of the cave at the moment, but the cave ran far too deep. Even though his vision was much sharper than ordinary mortals, it was still unable to penetrate the darkness to see within.

Lu Tianzi sighed in his heart.

At this point, even if there really was a stronger beast within, the only thing that would change for him was the way he died.

Nevertheless, Lu Tianzi proceeded to guide his perception into the depths of the cave. He wanted to at least find out what he was about to face.

But the moment he reached out with his perception, Lu Tianzi felt a piercing wave of killing intent sweep out from the depths of the cave, completely overwhelming him!

His perception immediately fell into disarray as Lu Tianzi felt a sharp pain assaulting the very depths of his inner world!

"Argh!" Lu Tianzi groaned in agony as he quickly retracted his perception, driving his Spiritual Essence to defend his inner world.

Thankfully, the wave of killing intent only lasted for a moment. After which, Lu Tianzi could feel that the pressure on his inner world had completely vanished.

Behind him, the pack of Frost Fang Wolves was not spared from this sharp wave of killing intent either.

The menacing snarls turned into frightened whimpers as the Frost Fang Wolves immediately retreated, diving back into the plunge pool and swimming away at top speed!

Lu Tianzi was extremely surprised to see this, but it was not as though his fate would change.

He patiently waited for the beast within the cave to appear, but there was nothing even after a few minutes passed.

Could it be that the beast within the cave was not really interested in him, and letting out that fearsome killing intent earlier was simply meant as a warning?

If that was the case, then Lu Tianzi had really gotten lucky!

Without further hesitation, Lu Tianzi started driving his Spiritual Essence in order to purge the poison from within his body.

After a while, Lu Tianzi coughed out black blood that was tainted by the poison from the Lion Hemlock. He coughed repeatedly, expelling more and more of the poison from within his body, until he could feel much of his strength returning.

Lu Tianzi then sat up and closed his eyes in meditation, attempting to drive his Spiritual Essence to get rid of every last remaining bit of poison that was still lingering within his body.

Barely an hour had passed since then, and Lu Tianzi finally managed to cough out the very last bit of the poison.

He slowly opened his eyes and let out a deep breath. Flexing his arms a little, Lu Tianzi let out a satisfied smile.

His strength had finally returned!

If he were to meet with those blasted Frost Fang Wolves again, Lu Tianzi would definitely wipe the floor with them!

Lu Tianzi stood up and cast a meaningful glance towards the depths of the cave.

He was filled with curiosity about what was in the cave, but considering that it already sent out a warning, Lu Tianzi decided against probing further.

With that in mind, Lu Tianzi turned to leave.

But the moment he took a step towards the cave entrance, a wave of killing intent burst out from within the cave once more!

Pain filled his senses as Lu Tianzi immediately halted his steps, desperately driving his Spiritual Essence to defend his inner world.

This killing intent was far too terrifying!

Lu Tianzi's back broke out in cold sweat and his breathing hastened. He dared not take another step in fear of what might happen.

But at this moment, he heard an ancient voice sound out in his head.

"Enter."

It was just a single word, but the voice was filled with an aura of authority, as though the owner of the voice would not take no for an answer.

Lu Tianzi was feeling a mix of surprise and fear at this point.

He never imagined that it would not be a beast, but a person who was residing within the cave!

However, since this person had the ability to scare off the pack of Frost Fang Wolves with just his killing intent alone, he must be an extremely powerful figure.

What would such a person possibly want from him?

No matter what, Lu Tianzi dared not disobey his instructions.

After all, this person within the cave was capable of incapacitating him with just his killing intent alone.

Lu Tianzi turned around and took cautious steps as he ventured into the cave.

The light grew dimmer as the entrance grew further, up to a point where he had to resort to sensing with his perception in order to continue proceeding.

Even through the multiple twists and turns, Lu Tianzi could feel himself slowly moving higher and higher. But the deeper he went, the more Lu Tianzi felt awed by this person in the cave.

Just how far did this person's perception extend, such that he was able to know exactly what was happening at the entrance of the cave even from so far away?

Without a doubt, this person must at least be at the Origin Core realm!

After a while, Lu Tianzi could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. He immediately picked up the pace and sped towards the exit.

Upon emerging from the dark tunnel, Lu Tianzi was shocked by the scene before him.

He had arrived at the entrance to a large chamber.

Ancient looking runes were engraved into the cave walls, below which were lines after lines of weird symbols, as though they were texts from an ancient language. These ancient looking runes glimmered with a dim glow, and were the only sources of light within the dark chamber.

But what drew Lu Tianzi's attention was that at the far end of the chamber lay a bed with a few shelves beside it.

An elderly man sat cross-legged on the bed with his eyes closed. Dressed in a loose and dirty looking long robe, the man was completely motionless even as Lu Tianzi approached, as though he had not even noticed Lu Tianzi's presence.

"Senior, thank you for the help earlier," Lu Tianzi clasped his fist towards the man in greeting.

A long period of uneasy silence followed, but Lu Tianzi dared not recover from his greeting.

After a while, the elderly man finally spoke, "Are you a human or a demon?"

Lu Tianzi felt like his heart was struck by lightning as his entire body tensed up!

Could it be that this person had seen through the Slaughter Essence system within his body?

"Please forgive my ignorance, but what does senior mean by that?" Lu Tianzi asked nervously.

The elderly man slowly opened his eyes as he regarded Lu Tianzi, but in his eyes was only curiosity and not enmity. At this time, the long tail that was hidden behind him waved to the front.

Seeing that, Lu Tianzi felt an even greater pressure in his heart.

So this elderly man was a demon!

"The method that you used to expel the poison from within your body belonged to the Spiritual Essence system, yet without having cultivated the Slaughter Essence system, there was no way that you would get off this easily after being exposed to my killing intent," the elderly demon patiently explained.

Lu Tianzi widened his eyes in surprise upon hearing that.

So even such a powerful martial artist like the elderly demon before him had failed to detect the Slaughter Essence system within him!

Lu Tianzi did not know what cultivation realm the elderly demon was at, but it was definitely at an extremely fearsome level. This must mean that his Slaughter Essence system could not be detected at all no matter what cultivation realm others were at!

Since the elderly demon had already detected that he had some attainments in the Slaughter Essence cultivation system, there was no longer any reason for him try hiding it.

Humans and demons were enemies after all.

"Junior doesn't dare!" Lu Tianzi hurried bowed his head in trepidation, cursing at himself for having lost his self control.

"Drive your Slaughter Essence," the elderly demon repeated, seemingly not offended at all.

Lu Tianzi did not reply, instead sinking his perception into his inner world. He was actually extremely nervous at the moment.

It had been some time since he had established a foundation for the Slaughter Essence system, even managing to absorb energy from countless kills to hit Primary Essence Building realm.

However, the truth was that Lu Tianzi had never actively driven his Slaughter Essence!

All along, he had relied purely on the additional refinement of his body that was a side effect provided by the existence of the Slaughter Essence particles in his body.

During combat, he had always relied on driving his stronger Spiritual Essence to provide the energy for his moves. Since his foundation for his Spiritual Essence system was extremely solid, that had been sufficient to carry him through.

But now, Lu Tianzi knew that he had no choice but to succeed in driving his Slaughter Essence!

After all, even though this elderly demon seemed quite calm for now, who knew what he would do if Lu Tianzi was unable to do as he requested?
