A Chaotic World 313 Dongxian Family Retaliates

"I swear by the Dongxian Family's name, that we have absolutely nothing to do with this incident! If it is found otherwise, I am willing to step down as the head of the Dongxian Family!"

Town Lord Dongwei sat in his seat just a few metres away, a solemn expression on his face as he scrutinised every little movement made by Master Dongxian.

The silence in the room lasted for a good few moments, with the two simply staring at each other.

Eventually, Town Lord Dongwei was the one to break the silence. "I understand, you may leave now."

"Understood, I pray that Town Lord Dongwei apprehends the culprit as soon as possible, so that my name can finally be cleared!" Master Dongxian clasped his fists before walking out of the room.

The door closed behind Master Dongxian, and Town Lord Dongwei immediately let out a deep sigh.

He had received a huge number of complaints from various townsmen, calling out the Dongxian Family for allegedly drugging young girls and smuggling them out of Bog Town.

Just before this, they had even brought the weak young girls to his place as proof.

He understood that many of these townsmen were probably part of the secret organisation Blazing Wings – the same organisation that had been causing troubles for him all this while.

However, this time their complaints were not without grounds.

When Town Lord Dongwei heard about what happened, he really wanted to get to the bottom of it as well.

Unfortunately, there was simply not enough evidence to link the incident to the Dongxian Family.

The girls who had been drugged remembered nothing about the ones who kidnapped them, while the captured traders were only able to produce a communication mark that received no response from the other end.

All they had was the traders' verbal statement, stating that it was the Dongxian Family that had hired them.

And unsurprisingly, Master Dongxian flatly denied having anything to do with the trade whatsoever.

In such a situation where they were sorely lacking in terms of evidence, Town Lord Dongwei had no choice but to let Master Dongxian go.

Damn it!

He slammed his fist on the surface of his desk.

He had always known that the noble famliies were growing more and more arrogant in their actions, but to think that they would have fallen to such a depraved state!

They simply did not know their limits!

Town Lord Dongwei lifted his communication ring to his face. "Master Dongran, I have nothing on Master Dongxian for now, so all I can do is to wait for my men to complete their investigation. Were you able to find out anything on your side?"

It did not take long before Master Dongran responded. "I have nothing either. All I managed to get is what you told me earlier."

"It can't be helped then. But leaving that matter aside, my men managed to confirm something because of this incident. The Radiant Raven Sect has sent an emissary. They really are involved in this matter."

"…What does Town Lord Dongwei plan to do about this? Will you be informing the Divine Storm Sect?"

"That's what I intended to do. But after hearing that the emissary was the one who stopped the fight, I am thinking of observing the situation a little longer. After all, this could mean that he actually did not want to see fighting happen among the townsmen," Town Lord Dongwei answered. "What does Master Dongran think?"

"A wise choice. If the Radiant Raven Sect means us no harm, it would be best not to provoke them. In the meantime, I will get my men to investigate."

"I will be depending on you then, Master Dongran."

"It's my duty."

By the time Lu Tianzi returned to the Dongran Residence, dusk had already fallen.

After sparring a little with Nanlan Qianxue at her request, Lu Tianzi returned to his room to check out his spoils from the earlier battle.

Zuomin Ta had two halberds in his possession, one at the Primary Origin Core rank and one at the Peak Essence Condensation rank, the latter probably being a spare just in case.

Apart from that, there was a cultivation technique and a halberd combat technique manual in his spatial ring, along with quite a number of pills and low ranked beast cores.

But what attracted Lu Tianzi's attention the most were two raven bracelets that Zuomin Ta had been wearing on his wrists, as well as a jade slip that contained just a small amount of information.

These two raven bracelets were actually Origin Core rank treasures!

Excited at the unexpected haul, Lu Tianzi examined them carefully. After a quick investigation, he figured that these raven bracelets were a pair, and would only work when both of them were worn at the same time.

They acted similar to beast cores in the sense that they contained Slaughter Essence energy. But the difference lay in the fact that unlike ordinary beast cores, these bracelets were constantly absorbing World Origin Energy to replenish the pool of energy within.

After storing up a certain amount, the user would then be able to tap on this external source of Essence energy, bursting forth with a sudden surge of strength far beyond what he was originally capable of.

So this was how Zuomin Ta's strength surged suddenly during his last strike…

Lu Tianzi grinned in satisfaction before putting them on.

These raven braclets would probably be a good trump card to fall back on in times of emergency!

Next, Lu Tianzi moved on to the unknown jade slip.

Unlike the other jade slips that he had seen, this one did not contain a whole chunk of information. Instead, it only contained a short paragraph along with a simple image, an amount of information which honestly did not require a jade slip to store.

But this short paragraph was enough to make Lu Tianzi fall into deep thought.

It detailed the layout of Bog Town and its surroundings, the secret code needed to enter Blazing Wings, as well as what the emissary from the Radiant Raven Sect was supposed to do upon arrival in Bog Town.

'Upon arrival, check for allegiance of the Blazing Wings leader. If he passes, help initiate the final phase of the plan.'

It seemed that with his identity as the emissary from the Radiant Raven Sect, this Zuomin Ta was supposed to act as the catalyst to spark off the Blazing Wings' plan.

As for what the plan actually was, it was not written in the jade slip.

Lu Tianzi did not know how much Zuomin Ta has already achieved, but he was not too concerned either.

If things got too dangerous, he could just leave the town with Nanlan Qianxue.

He was not a saint.

Without any form of reward, there was simply no reason to put their lives in danger for the sake of a town that they had absolutely nothing to do with.

Of course, Lu Tianzi was hoping that the situation would not become as extreme as that.

Nevertheless, since he had no idea what was going to happen, Lu Tianzi decided not to worry about it anymore.

Keeping away his spoils, his eyes turned towards a huge tub in the room.

The night passed quickly, and morning came along with a raquet that was rather uncharacteristic of the current Bog Town.

"Open up!" "Open up right now!"

A group of men shouted as they slammed their fists against the front door of an ordinary looking house.

"Who are you people?" someone questioned from behind the door.

"This place is suspected to be a gathering spot for criminals plotting to overthrow the Town Lord! Open up before we force our way in!" the men yelled in response.

"Absurd! We have nothing to do with such matters!"

"If you are not going to do as you are told, then don't blame us for what's coming next!" the men sneered.

As they spoke, the man in the lead raised his boot before stamping forward with all his strength.

Bang-!

The front door of the house flew upon, revealing a small group of people gathered within.

"How dare you break into my house like this? Do you have no eyes for law and order?!" an elderly man stepped up to confront them.

"Heh," the man in the lead snorted in disdain before swinging his arm across, smashing into the elderly man's face. "You are the ones obstructing law and order if you try to stop us from doing our jobs!"

Gasp-!

The other people in the house gasped in horror as the impact sent the elderly man stumbling to the ground, his broken nose bleeding profusely.

"Search the place!" the man in the lead shouted, not one bit concerned about the miserable state that the elderly man was in.

At his command, the rest of the men moved out, thrashing the place as they looked around, seeming to be searching for something in particular.

"Wait, you can't do this! Stop!"

"What did we do? Help! Someone inform the authorities!"

But all they could do was to wail and shout. Against this group of powerful martial artists, the group of people within the house were powerless to resist.

Just like that, they could only watch on helplessly as their house was ransacked in broad daylight.

They were not the only victims either.

A similar scene was happening in a few other places around Bog Town as well, with various houses being forcibly entered and the insides thrashed.

"Hurry and inform the authorities!"

"Let the town lord know about this!"

Their neighbours could only watch on in horror after sending a message to inform the authorities. Even if they wanted to help, they knew full well that they were too weak to stop these men.

If they really took action, not only would they be unable to salvage the situation, but they would also be bringing misery upon themselves.

In their hearts, all of them were secretly hoping that after these men were done with their current targets, they would just leave instead of moving on to others!

Just where on earth did these men come from?!

At the Dongxian Residence, Master Dongxian sat at his desk. His gaze was full of malice as he looked out the window and into the distance.

Those damned peasants!

As if targeting the Dongluo Family was not enough, now those bastards actually grew brazen enough to ruin his transaction?

Did they even know just how much he had lost because of that?

There was no way he would take this lying down!

Yesterday it was this transaction, who knew what would be next?

Attack his shops?

Kidnap his people?

Before things got any worse, he would chase every last one of them out of the town, even if he had to do it with his own two hands!

To begin with, he would take away every single location that those bastards had been rumoured to gather at. As long as they remained within the walls of Bog Town, he would not give them any room to breathe.

Since they did not know their place, he would let them understand it by force, so that they would never dare to rise up against the Dongxian Family ever again!
